We have our weekly bible study.. and well we were thinking of doing an outreach program. many, or majority suggested that we go see kids abandoned, teach them and give them sunday school story tpes during our visits. But then well not many has thought of visiting the older ones... say, those who are abandoned by their children and was left inthe home for the old ages.
Im Wondering, though if there is something to this, as to why few think of the old ones when thinking of doing an outreach program. why does it always have to be the kids who gets to be the priorities? What do you think? Is it really about our line of thinking that kids need more help than the old ones? Or do we always think that the older ones are able to fend for themselves?

I have read an article about this,it tells a story as following:there would be cold wave in the near future,a father called up his child who was studying in the school far away from home and repeatedly advised him to pay more attention to clothes, then after a while,he got a call from his elderly mother and she told the same thing to him.For this ,he realized that he always focus too much on his child but ignore his parents who has given him limitless love. Maybe it becomes a common phenomenon ,and we have to try our best to make people realize that the olds also need our focus and concern as the babies.

exactly my point. I am seeing this with my brother too. he already has 3 kids and well ever since he had kids he'd always tell my mom that he can no longer help us with the expenses because he's got some kids to feed.. he has not realized that my mom too needed his help. oh well.. :D thanks for your insight

In fact, there are many old people sent to geracomium by their children ,for they think it is troublesome to take care of them. The olds are so lonely, but their children seldom see them because they have many other things to do.I think the olds are like little babies ,they move slowly and have a bad memory, they also need to be taken care of and get help and love from their children.

It is quit natural that we feel sympathetic towers the young children. In one way it can be called as the natural selection. The Almighty God had given this natural tendencies to feel for the young ones so that the human beings do not get extingt. The young ones should grow and procreate. The old ones have lived their life and no useful purpose will be served even if they live for few more years. It is called the divine providence. The God [or the nature] knows how to run this world and the universe. The old people during their life period should have made arrangements for their comfort during their old age. When they are young , they will drink and dance and they will squander the wealth and expect their sons and daughters to look after them during their old age. I am not against the old people, because I am also old and I am running 61 as on date. I am telling the fact.

Yes may be what you have said is right, it is the nature which guide us to feel for the young ones. Really it is rudeness of nature, why the people who will leave the world soon won't get affecting and care and leave this way. Those who have arrangement for their old age it is OK but there are lot of old people who suffer throughout their whole life. Here we can think for them, for such outreach programs. It is so noble thinking.

Outreach missions is for all the age groups who are in need of us. My suggestion is how we plan out the program. Either visiting the kids at one time or visiting the older people at another time. But if we want to visit them all at one time then divide the mission team in two groups one each for the the kids and the older people.

They say once a man, twice a child. I think that it is easier to see children and want to give to them since they do not have experience in this world. The elderly on the other hand have experienced the world and have understanding. People tend to think children are weaker and need more help.
