I have seen the news that instead of eight hours of duty it will be 10 hours duty from 8am-7pm? Do you think this will be approved and implemented?

Before I even heard about it in the news, this is truly my biggest dream! Haha!
Because I think that people are really working very hard every week and the number of work days hampers the number of days that you are at rest and enjoying the day w/ your family.
I really like it to be implemented. :)

For me, it will be a very nice news for people working in the government. They will have that kind of a very long vacation every weekend.
But since I am working in a private sector and in the Business Processing Outsourcing company, I could not see that I will benefit from it. Our work is from Mondays to Saturdays since we follow UK time.
If it will be implemented, I just hope that government workers will really do their very best to be productive enough when it comes to being a civil servants...

I think this is only good for employees. But for actual businesses that depend on customers, this lost day could potentially mean loss sales. If the company were big enough that they are able to shuffle people around then it is good. But for small to medium sized companies, I think this is counterproductive.
Sometimes people fail to see the big picture, and only look at what's good for themselves.

I think a four day work week would be an awesome thing. Even though the day would 10 hours opposed to 8, you would have 3 days a week off. Now, how I would work it would be like this. I would make the 4 days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I would have Wednesday off along with the week end. That way, the week is broken up. You work 2 days, off 1, work 2 more, off 2. I like that.

I think that will cause a lot of adjustment and will really change our daily pace in life. I don't know what will happen if that is given a trial period or test if it will be good or not. I observed that there are work that can really be done in a short period of time. 4-day work week will also make people to maximize their time and accomplished things faster. This can be very tiring to work 10 hours a day but its like doing overtime everyday. If we have 3-day weekends, then more time to take a break and do household chores that mothers are very busy to do during weekends. I think it would be a good idea if it is implemented properly.

Working 4 days a week is fine with me. At least you will have extra day to spend with your love ones. However I don't think it will be approved. There are a lot of people who opposed it already even just the mere idea of it. In BPO, working 4 days 11 hours or we call it 4 by 11 is just a normal schedule. BPO employees don't have that much choice themselves.

Hi vycess! My shift here at work is M-F 8am-6pm but commonly (almost everyday actually) extends until 7pm so if the 4-day work shift is to be implemented, I really won't be that much affected since I'm used to it XD

I've worked this kind of shift before and it is actually nice. You get to rest for 3 days. Hopefully, the rest days are straight weekends and not a split off. If this gets implemented, I guess its more family time for married people and more gimik time for single ones. I just also hope that the BPO industry will also adopt this system if its approved.
