I have seen now new apartment or new houses this facility is available attached toilet and bathroom to save the place.. but I not feel well specially for bathing there. Yesterday I went to my daughter's friend's house and when I was gone for washroom she tell in our house toilet and bathroom is combine so I feel unhygienic there..
I not use the washroom but I think now everywhere both are combine what you think this is good attached toilet and bathroom. I think some other family members face the problems when combine it.. because if one is not came then another not goes in...
What you think and whats your choice if in your house combine then your family face the problem in the morning or not...

hi fantabulus well here in the United states the sink is
in the same room as the shower almost always. So I guess
I am used to that. When I take a shower I let my roomir
know so she can use the bathroom first. some families go
so far as two using the bathroom, one showering the other
one using the toilet. I personally would rather not share
the bathroom, let others wait until I am out of the shower
first please.

Well in the US the bathroom and the shower are in the same room. They always have been so im suggesting if you dont like that please do not come to the US because all bathrooms have the shower/bathtub and toilet all in one bathroom. Very weird not to have it in the same room though too. They always in just feet of each other. Sometimes the bathroom might have a door to it but there always in the same room maybe jsut with a door seperating it but never heard of them not being together in the same area.

In US it is a common practice but here in India it is not.Toilets and bathrooms had always been constructed separately in India. But since today every one in India is running after American way of life by abandoning Indian culture, the dream for having attached toilet and bathroom have become common.

Here in the USA, a lot of the houses have the toilet in the same room as the shower. The older houses sometimes have a door that separates the toilet and shower from the sink, or the toilet from the sink and shower. It's not uncommon to see houses with the shower, toilet, and sink in the same room.
I don't see that it's unhygenic, here in the US it'd only be unhygenic if any of the things were dirty.

Hi, fantabulus. In the home that I live in, the bathroom and the toilet are in the same room. This is common is most U.S homes of today. If there was an toilet that was on the outside of the house, then I would not like this too much. It is not very clean to me.

It is very common here to have both the toilet and bathtub/shower in the same room. We clean them daily and not sure why it would be odd for us here not to see them in the same room. There are homes that have both in the same room as well as a toilet in a separate one also.
It is a matter of space and most if not all apartments have them in the same room here where we live.

hi:)
in our house we have two bathroom, one attached with toilet and bathroom and one only bathroom, were not really having problem, it's just right for us because we're only 4 in the house and sometimes 6 if my grandparents are here to visit. but if only one bathroom and toilet combined at one house, perhaps there are some problems, especially if you are many on the family. if you don't prefer that, maybe you could still look for another apartment, than settle there and move after some time.

In my house, here in Australia, my toilet is in a separate room. However, I have lived in many homes where the toilet is in the bathroom. Western toilets have a li any germs and when you flush the worst of the odour goes away, shutting the lid also takes care of odours and if it is really bad we use an air freshener.
When I lived in Singapore we had a Western toilet and an Eastern toilet too. I did not like the eastern toilet at all...I much prefer something to sit upon. I wonder how the elderly manage in your country?
As for the family situation in the mornings...when I was growing up, my father would read the morning paper in bed than at 7am he would go to the bathroom to shower, shave etc. Every one else had to be finished in the bathroom by then (except Mum). He would then dress and come to the table for his breakfast. We were all supposed to be dressed and at the table also. We would all have breakfast and afterwards, Mum would use the bathroom and get dressed while Dad washed the breakfast dishes and we kids would dry them and put them away. Then we would go to work or school and the house would be empty. It's all about routine.

That is the only way I have seen it most of my life. Occasionally, the sink will be outside the bathroom, but usually the tub and toilet are in the same area. I know when I was in China, it varied by the apartment. One had them all in one room, one had a toilet on one end and a shower on the other and it was off the kitchen so you could use the kitchen sink to wash your hands. The last one I lived in the shower and sink were in one room and the toilet was in another.

hi fanta,
modern houses are like that now because they maximize the space so both toilet and bath in one room. it is mostly tiled and using the "sit on" type. the bath area is sometimes separated with shower curtains.
i do not share the bathroom when somebody wants to use the toilet. it is either i use the room or she uses it and i wait until she is finished.

Well I'm used to a combined toilet and bathroom. That is what we have at home. There are really disadvantages such as what you have said only one person can use it at a time. For us we have no problem with in as we are already adjusted to this kind of facility.

I understand how you feel because i feel the same way like you feel.I really hate the idea of having a common toilet and bathroom.Today in India it has become a trend of having a attached toilet and bathroom. They feel it brings pride to them ,when in reality it does not.
I even hate the idea of having a master bedroom.Imagine how can one sleep when the toilet is near to the place you sleep.
I am a civil engineer and i got annoyed when a customer asked me a plan with attached toilet and bathroom.

I like this type of apartment. We can not say like this that this is unhygienic. It depends on people who live there and how they keep clean.
In my house in every room, there is attached toilet and bathroom and its helpful for everyone that everyone can use without waiting for other members.

No, I do not like toilets attached to bedroom (en suite). I think it would cause dampness to come into the bedroom as well as being noisy and disturbing if me or my wife needed to use it in the middle of the night. It seems to be getting quite desirable these days, but I would not put this in my house. _Derek

Of course toilet and bathroom combined is normal in the UK and why not. I think you are over sensitive. I do know of some houses with separate toilets but this is not normal

Most of our comfort rooms in our country consist of toilet and bathroom all in one. I think most of us here are used to this kind of set-up as it is cheaper to build and is space-saving. It does not feel very hygienic at all but if you also bathe in that area, that means it's not also that dirty really.

I do not like toilet attached to the room. But today it became necessary. In India, at some places we cannot go lonely. So attached may be wanted.
