When you are assign to make a school project, what do you prefer, having it by group or you wanna do it alone?
Well, for me I prefer to be alone. I know the saying two heads(or more) are better than one, but I still want to be alone when it comes to school projects.
I want to be alone because I dont want so much argumentation with my group mates. When we are making are thesis which is by group, I really wanted to solo because Im tired of being with my group mates. They wanted us to make our project at times when Im not available and then when I didnt come to the meeting, Then I need to pay a penny.
If Im alone doing it by myself, then I can make it what ever time I want. I can make it according to my own.
How about you? what do you prefer?

I used to think as selfish as you do. I used to prefer working alone. What a big mistake it is !!!! The solution was moving to an elitist school, not only economically elitist, but also intellectually. We think the same way, we know what every other expects, and we know how we are going to do it. It's such a nice thing to feel supported by likeminded people. I have developed that social ability, and now it's one of the skills I value the most because it has helped me having better relationships with other people. I love elitist people !

Well, it depends on what kind of project. As you can see, there are things that I am good at and there are also those that I am not quite capable of doing. It also matters on how much money is needed to finish the project and I am sure that for big projects that requires a bigger budget, then doing it by group is beneficial considering that you have someone else to share the expenses with.

hi,
Totally I agree with you.I want to do group works alone . In my school my teachers giving more Projects , Assignments and Seminars. That I want to do alone. When I do it alone that I can do in my free times . But group work that I don't like.
But in group work that time we should not do all. Other will help us.
In this way I confusing that group works are good or bad?

I prefer group projects because one of my group mates might have a skill or know something I don't. Then I can simply benefit from them! =)
Of course, I'm contributing also. I reckon being in groups is much more fun, and my groups are always composed of friends so we rarely argue. We just agree on anything. As a group, it also guarantees that our mark wouldn't be so bad with all our brains chained together.

I prefer working alone, I get things done much faster. I don't mind doing projects in groups either, as long as they are all reliable. Actually I have two self rules when working in groups that are not reliable. In a group that is not reliable, and I recognize that my group members are struggling generally not just that one course, but who are academically challenged, I don't mind doing the work. But when I know the people are capable, I get angry because now my mark is in danger. At my university, we can let group members sign contracts that if they do not do their share they are held credible and group member's shares will be marked individually.
But I enjoy doing work by myself, unless projects are intentionally designed for group work. But early in school, most projects can easily be done by one person. I just prefer working alone because, I do not have academically challenged, who I don't mind helping in my groups, I receive lazy members who I really hate. Like I said, I don't mind doing work for academically challenged students, I want them to succeed, but I don't like to help lazy kids as usually academically challenged students try and work harder than lazy kids.

I think I would rather be alone too. It would probably depend on what the assignment was and if it could be done by one person. I was in a group in high school and had to build a telegraph machine, and no one would really get together and work... so I asked my dad to help me make it... and he did and it worked.. I took it to school and the rest of the group never did anything and they rode on my coat tail to get the grade, when it was me AND my dad who worked on it.. they never did. I wasn't even considered the leader of the group... but no one would work on anything. They got the same A that I got and they didn't even do anything.

If I will be working with people I don't agree with and don't enjoy working with, i'd rather work alone. Working alone gives me the freedom to decide on what I want and also I can give it as much or less time I want. When you work on a group of people you don't get along with, the project does not end up good.

hi:)
there are some projects that I want to do alone and there are some that I need to be in a group, doing it in a group most of the time is fun, because it can be also a bonding time for you and your friends. but you're right when you do it by group there is always someone who disagree on plans, when that happens what we do is majority wins.
G'day friend!

Hi gidz0518,
Doing a thesis by group or alone, has its advantages and disadvantages. If it is done by group, you have to consider the availability of time, materials, research input, money. If a member lack contribution to any of these, he becomes a stress for others. On the other hand, if all members are active and contribute productively to the output of the project. Then, their group is a success. It is likely, they will get a high rating for the project or thesis.
Doing it alone, means carrying the burden all by yourself. You alone are responsible for the success or failure of the project or thesis. If you are prepared, considering all the factors mentioned above, then, you will succeed. If not, then, accept failure wholeheartedly.

I love to work on an academic team! It is nice to get input and ideas from other people to contribute to a project. However, it can be more difficult to complete the project when mates have conflicting schedules. Have you all ever thought about working on the project together over the internet?? Communicating electronically can keep you all in sync while putting your ideas together. You can use email, a forum, or even webcam or skype meetings for those times when you and your mates cannot meet.

i always work better alone on anything wrether its a school project or am assignment for work i like being able to change the plans if i need to or simply just being able to work at my own pace im not trying to sound greedy or selfish or stingy but i like being able to soly take the credit for my good ideas but sometimes i know for school i would have to work with someone most of the time i had such a hard time understand exactly what needed to be done in the project especially in my science classes it was nice to have someone elses brain there to feed and much off of haha
