If you could travel back in time, where would you go??

Would you visit the past years of your own lifetime? Or would you rather travel further back in time and see some part of history for yourself?
If I were to have the chance to go back in time I think I would choose to go to the time and place where my parents met one another.
I think it would be most touching to see how they acted around one another, and hear what they said to one another. My parents met when my mother was only fourteen and they have been together ever since. It would interesting to see for myself, how that bond began!

I don't think i would like to travel back in time. If it was a chance for a time travel, I would rather choose the other way. I would like to travel in the future when the cure to the what we know now as incurable diseases has been found. Then I would travel back to nowadays to give the cure to those who need it so much. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that?

Honestly, I think the future looks very dark for us. I mean, 'we' keep destroying the environment and keep making wars. I don't see how the future could save the past. So if we knew that the future is a hopeless thing for our planet and if time travel into the past was possible then - and only in that case - I'd dare going back to change things. But the only question would be: what do we have to change to let our planet go into a safe future? The only solution might be that we go extinct to reach that goal.

hey that's a good idea. However, what if they don't find a cure and if the situation even deteriorates? You might bring back a virus that's yet not here and cause even more suffering. Anyway, as I said a good idea but it would be wise to take safty measures :D
Cheers

two things:
1. to go physically back in time is impossible
2. the principle of cause and effect may result in all sorts of problems: a slight change of the past may cause a huge change in the future
so if you COULD go back in time (and if you wouldn't strand in a parallel universe) you could perhaps trigger WWIII or if you go further back than the beginning of mankind you could possibly prevent mankind from ever coming into existence. You could also change the future in a positive way but there would be no way to predict the consequences.
If it was possible and if there was no cause and effect then maybe I'd go back to the most interesting moments of the history of Earth: take a look at the beginning of life and at what ended the era of the dinosaurs, meet Jesus, watch the pyramids being built ... maybe take a glimpse at Adam and Eve, that sort of thing :-)
Cheers

As for me I think I'd travel back to the time when the earth is still young and everything seems beautiful and so easy. Those are the times when there are still no computer, gadgets and all kinds of high technology and yet the people are happy. I would like to see again the old, old time when children go out to play together in the street and yet they are safe and enjoying each others company. I would like to see the time when farms are still planted with rice while children are playing with kite around. I would love to go back to the time when the rivers are clear and shallow and the water is freely flowing. I would like to go back to the time when women wear clothes with modesty and decency and are being treated with all respect by men around. Oh, there are a lot about the early world that I would like to see again. So sad that the world has turned old and ugly. How I wish the world will be young and beautiful again. Sadly it will not happen for this world is bound to decay.

Oh dear what could be pleasant to you can't be pleasant to me either. It depends on how we view life. As for me those simple things are very pleasant because I have always loved simplicity.

It is sad how humans carelessly destroy the environment. However, those 'simpler' times that you mention in your post weren't always the most pleasant from what I understand.

Can i travel back to Mesozoic Era? Can your time machine allow that? I really wanted to know if dinosaurs are real and if men are really descendant of apes.

Sure, I'll pay you a courtesy call after I came back from my travel. That is, if i am still alive and the dinosaurs didn't eat me for dinner.

Wow your parents must be very loving!:) If I could travel back in time, I would want to travel back to the time b4 I accepted a particular religion because that was one of my greatest regrets in life.

Oh I will definitely read your future posts.:) Btw, I read your post on Jon (the game that you started and you asked others to continue?)...I didn't know how to continue from where another mylotter left off...anyway, you are rather creative!
You are very fortunate to have such loving and good parents! Your parents' deep love for each other would somehow, directly or indirectly, have a significant impact on your own (future) marriage.
Oh I am no longer a part of that religion. It's good that your parents let you make your own decisions.:)

My parents deeply love one another. They have been through so much throughout their relationship, and unlike most married couples today, they stuck it out together! I am sure if you read any of my future posts you will learn more about them. They are a huge part of my life. As an adult, I can see my parents as real people, and I adore them.

I am sorry to hear that you regret becoming a part of your religion. My question is how can you remain in that religion. When I was a child my parents had me baptized Catholic, however we never attended church services over the years. My parent will never admit, but they see flaws in their religion. Rather than forcing their religion upon me, they encouraged me to find my own answers about religion.
I have no idea what religion you are speaking of but I suggest you follow your heart. Find your own answers about life and religion. That is why we each have our own brains! To make our own decisions!

I would find myself in the garden of Eden to stop Eve from succumbing to satan. But before then, I probably would briefly stop in early 1980s to acquire thousands of shares of Microsoft.

If I could travel back in time I would want to go back to Victorian times. I love the architecture of the time and the fashion. The way women were treated then was very cool although I don't like the lack of women's right back then. They could own land or have anything in their name. They couldn't wear alot of jewelry either. So it did have alot of draw backs but was a very interesting time.

If I could travel back in time, I'd visit the time of the American Civil War, so I could meet and speak some important Historical figures such General Grant, Abraham Lincoln. I'd also like to visit with Vincent Van Gogh by traveling back to his life time. Or may meet William Shakespeare and have beautiful conversations with him.

We could take several trips and meet every single person we learned about in our school books. I wonder how of our impression of these people would change. Our history books depicted most of these men in a certain way and it would be interesting to see how their true selves would compare.

Wow. That's beautiful. Your daddy met your mommy when he was 14.
I love all kinds of romantic love stories.
If I had one chance to travel in time. I would like to go to the year 2001. I met a girl on my train back school. We had a lot of talk and she attracted me so much but I was too shy to ask her for contact information I was young that year and lacked courage and confidence.

Do you remember her name? Perhaps you could locate her? Some call me crazy, but it's those little sparks in life that make it all worth while! I would go take another ride on that train! It would be crazy to think you will find her, but you never know :) Good Luck to you Zausiu, be confident! You are a very beautiful woman :)

Hi dear,
Nice topic! I used to think in such a way that if I could be around with my parents when they were at the age of 10-15 years old. It may be fun to think that my parent's childhood life and get a chance alongwith them to be around and share the life. Even they also may get wondered they got a chance to live with their child at their childish times.
Though it is a funny thought, I think if we just imagine about it, we will get a lot of pleasure and become more talkative as well.
Regards,
Thank-s

Just the way, we can make so much of imaginations. Sometimes it is one of my time pass that while in the train for 1-2 hrs. of journey, while walking along, just before sleep, and whenever I am simply idle, I used to think all the time with such funny imaginations. I used to fly in the sky with my friends, go back to school times when I was in the 7-8 years old, holding the hands of my mom, I used to walk, she used to carry me on her lap, etc. But some of my early childhood incidents I still remember and among the oldest is that when I was at age of 4. Mom took me to a dispensary to give me the vaccination and I was made them to run all over the garden to avoid the injuction. And so many incidents. These all will live only in our memory and will never get back in the original form. There is no go back, go ahead and look back through the memories.....
Thank-s

I am glad you agree! My parents sometimes talk about when they were young. They tell stories of their crazy experiences and what it was like to raise me at such a young age! I wish I could just travel back and time and watch. I would love to see how my parents looked at me when I was first born! :)

I would definitely go back to the time that I was about to marry. I was thinking twice about it. I did not feel in my heart that he is the right man for me. I have to make tough choices that time. If I could only do that I would live freer than now. I am still tied to my poor decision making because of my young age. I should have listen to what my heart was saying. The truth is that it can't be done and I have to live with the choices that I made no matter how poor they are. It has helped me evolve into a mature and more understanding person so in essence I'd rather focus on the positive side of it than living with regrets and what ifs for the rest of my life.

Thank you for sharing your story, starrose. I feel the regret melting through your response. It is one thing to have the 'what if' stuck in the back of your head somewhere, but its not fair to anyone if you live your life with someone you know is wrong for you. I once shared five and a half years with a man that treated me terribly. I knew it wasn't right. I knew I deserved better, but I was never able to walk away. We would still be together today if he didn't take it upon his-self to leave. He used me up and threw me away. At the time, I thought I'd die, but looking back I realized he did me a favor.
I don't know anything about your personal life, and it is not my place to say anything.... But honey, I promise... If I had a time machine, I would let you take your trip! Don't live in regret.

Hstory was always my favorite subject when I was in school. I always wanted to know if the way it was recorded in the books was the way it actually happened or if it was just written that way. Because of this I would like to visit different historical time periods. I'm sure if I had a way to travel back in time, I would check in on some of my past family members as well, but I think my focus would be history.

You bring up an awesome point, MomofLucas! We are taught so many things about the past, mainly through the writings of others. How are we ever to know if these stories are true. There are two sides to every story, sometimes three, and four sides. Going back in time to test the validity of what we read in history books is a great idea!
If you could only choose one time period, what would it be?

If I could choose only one I would probably go back to the time of Julius Ceaser and the rise of the Roman Empire. I have always been interested in this time period because of the way that it shaped the structure of the world. Rome built road and united so much of the known world at that time. I would like to see it in process.

If you were to travel back in time to view the life Julius Ceaser, you would undoubtedly be amazed. You would have to chance to see great historical developments, but only after great war and strife.
I do not know much about the time period and would love to hear about some of the things from this time period that most interested you.

If I could way back in time I think it would be to see a historic event to see how it actually took place. To live in that time for a while could actually be fun or profitable as you could predict the future.
I think I have gone back in time in my own life many times but have never been able to change a thing. My parents I would be afraid of. Imagine messing it up somehow and then finding out you were never born.
