A few days ago, it was all over the news when a security guard complained that he was beaten by a congressman when the latter got irked and refused to have his porche bearing a license number 8 checked as part of security procedures. The congressman claimed that he merely hit the guard with a sheet of paper after hearing cuss words from the guard and after the guard attempted to pull the gun on him. Now he's threatening to file harassment charges against the poor guard who failed to come back to the precinct to file formal complaint for fear of his life. In this case who would you believe? by the way the congressman who own the Porshe sports car is representing one of the top ten poorest municipalities in the Philippines and had body guards with him when the incident happened. Your thoughts.

Do I believe politicians? Generally and honestly, no. In this case, I side more with the security guard. But then, we really don't know what happened, so I guess we'll give a little bit of benefit of doubt that the politician was telling the truth.

With a fat chubby face with grim looking eyes llike that? who would?. there's no way a security guard would do something like that to a politician. I feel sad how ever with that security guard giving up the case and MIKEY seems to have done nothing with his Banana Secu-Party

Hey!...I have a chubby face and grim looking eyes, but I'm honest and credible to the core! Kidding! I do have a chubby face, but I've got pretty eyes.
But, like I said, I usually don't believe politcians. So, just like I'm doubtful of what the congressman said about the security guard, I'm also doubtful that Mikey will do something about the poor guard's case. As mentioned by our friend above, his statements seemed half-hearted. Like, he doesn't really want to help, but, this could somehow make him look good to people.

Personally I would have to go with the security guard on this one. As you say the congressman had body guards with him so that automatically gives him an advantage plus also makes it less likely that the security guard would behave in such a way. Also, the fact that the security guard fled the precint and didn't return to make a complain for fear of his life speaks volumes in itself.

And also, the congreeman has a higher position in authority which I think is also relevant to the case. Generally people have a higher degree of respect for people of higher authority and pretty much do what they're told my them whether they realize it or not. Also, the fact that the guy is a security guard also gives him a respectable position in society therefore I would be more inclined to belive that the security guard would have had, at least, some respect for the congressman but not necessarily the other way round as the congressman would see the security guard as being below him.

If it's just an ordinary question then the easy answer would be the congressman but in this particular case and the circumstances that occurred even common sense would dictate that the security guard is credible and the congressman's words were all made up and full of lies.

if i were to judge, i will not look at one side whether he is a congressman or a simple security guard. firstly, we can see that the icon of justice, the blind-folded lady with a scale, only means that justice has no one to side or favor to, unless the evidences brought by the two parties is more credible than the other. nevertheless, i pity the congressman for not acting according to his position, whether the accusation is true or not.

Sadly that's not how lady justice do business in this country Neil. Lady justice can take a peek and choose who to favor if you have enough money. In this case, I pity the security guard more than the congressman because there's no way he can get even after he backed out. There are also no guarantees that this is the end of the congressman's political career because he comes from a place where votes are for sale. Based on the car he's driving, he can very well afford to buy himself another government post during any upcoming elections.

Lady justice don't peek and choose favor. She is too afraid to see. She crumbles when she hears the name of big personalities. We need to help her. We need to tell her that she shouldn't be afraid. That she needs to weight the case according to evidence and proper argument. We need to be there for her so that she will have the strength to listen and pass justice in accordance with the Law in a timely manner. In regards with the security guard and the congressman, we need to continuously be vigilant and be aware. We need to act decisively to the call of justice. We should be ready to extend our arms against abusive and mentally unstable government officials. We vote for them, we kick them out. With one voice lady justice don't need to peek to see us, she just needs to listen and weight the truth because she knows we the sovereign people are there to defend her against those corrupt and irresponsible so-called representative of the people. Once united we shall earn the respect of other nations.

A normal person who is now hiding for fear of being harmed by a political personalities has no reason to lie. He will not put his family's lives in trouble if he is just running for money and fame.
So with the hottest issue going on, it is so clear to see and to say who is telling lies and truth...

There's a possibility that I'm going to raise my eyebrow if the complaint comes from another congressman since he could be using the case for political reasons but I can see no other reason with the case of the security guard except getting justice. But the guard has backed out already and that's already the end of it. He may not get the congressman behind bars but let's just hope that the people will not forget what kind of person he is when he runs for a government position.

Hello Ybong, I believe it would have been a lot better if the security guard to file a case against this idiot congressman. I will side with the security guard because the congressman has fatly got himselves involved regarding the fight in the Golf Course. I don't believe the congressman you can see from his body language that He's LYING and his nervous in his speech. he's cold and selfish and i don't think he will apologize

I think it would be pretty scary to go against the congressman. If he is as shady as he looks, he will just use money and influence to get him off the hook. Sometimes, it sucks to be a nobody and penniless in this country. I actually fear for this poor guard's safety. Whether he's telling the truth or lying doesn't matter. He's courting trouble going against somebody moneyed and influential.

The congressman's actions speak volumes of what he truly is. His actions and the way he defends himself only shows the actions of a spoiled brat. It's clear as living day lights that he's making up his own stories just to let himself off the hook. I can't read minds, but his actions clearly indicates he's lying. No wonder he represents one of the poorest municipalities and it still is because of the kind of politicians they voted into office, worse, vote to make laws in their behalf. I think the guard did the right thing of not pursuing the matter. He may not harm the congressman physically but he can do damage to the congressman's political career. Let's just hope that the congressman's constituents are not as dumb as to vote for him again or ever but then what can we expect in a place when election fraud is the norm rather than the exception?

When a mayor punched a sheriff, I sided with the mayor because I really think she gave that sheriff what he deserves. This time around home I'm going to side with a security guard over the congressman. I found a more credible and with the way he talks there is sincerity. That congressmen is most likely to be corrupted because why the hell he owns an expensive car and why the hell his municipality remained poor While he have a large pork barrel

What the lady mayor did may be wrong but people are siding more with her than the sherief. I'm not siding with her but their case there is different. What happened with the guard and congressman wasn't caught in video so even if people can clearly see that the congressman is lying through his teeth there's just no physical evidence on what actually transpired. It would just be his word against the other. If the security decides to pursue with his complaint chances are he be able to sustain it and he can even put his life in danger. We have to remember that the congressman come from the same place as the ampatuans and they're capable of doing unthinkable things. Just imagine, a congressman representing one of the poorest municipalities in the Philippines is driving a Porsche. Where in hell did he get the money? hmmm sounds fishy or should I say porky....

She's wrong in all aspects but the circumstances that lead her to her actions is very different if we compare it with that of the congressman and the security guard. Her case was a reaction from someone whose out there to protect her constituents who homes were about to be demolished. But still it doesn't give her the right to punch the sheriff. In the congressman's case, it is clearly his ego that prompted him to punch that poor security guard. Maybe he didn't realize that part of the payment he made to buy that sports car came from the tax paid by the security guard.
Those who are calling for the daang matuwid seems to be keeping the silence and the help we're hearing from seems to come from the other street which sounds halfhearted.

The lady mayor may have been right, but I think her actions were wrong. We do understand that emotion she felt, and, really, we are all not in control of our emotions. But, we are responsible how we react on our emotions. Having a powerful office, one must exert effort to show the world she means business, but, to go and physically harm the sheriff was a bit more unbecoming of a highly respected politician. Imagine what our country would become if all politicians would go "suntukan na lang tayo".
If only the graft busters are as brave as the security guard who went against this arrogant politician, then there would be hope for this country. I just hope that the "daang matuwid" is going somewhere.

i have heard about this. but then i do not know which side to take because i was not there. its the congressman's word against the guard.. but im sure we should know better; an educated congressman should be able to act properly than the security guard who barely even made it out of highschool. my point is that, whoever has better understanding should have been able to act accordingly and this issue altogether would have been avoided.

I think the security guard is more credible. I can't believe he could invent story just like that. This congressman really beat him I supposed. I am just too sad over the fact that the security guard withdrew his charges. Out of fear he could not longer pursue the case against this congressman. How sad, really sad!

It's clearly an abuse of power on the part of the congressman. I can't blame the guard if he decided against filing a formal complaint because chances are he still the one whose going to end up as the loser. I mean I wouldn't bet my life and put it in the hands of Mikey who belong to the same party as pangandaman, the arroyos have their handfuls right now and to think that the other congressman comes from Mindanao where election fraud allegedly occurred. Who knows what they'll throw out in the open if Mikey sides with the guard. Just a thought...

I heard the news about this and I think the security guard is telling the truth. Filipinos are known to be courteous specially using Sir and Mam right away without knowing the standing of a person. And if this security guard knows already that he's dealing with a congressman (because of the plate number), he will be courteous in speaking with him. I don't want to judge the congressman right away but his expensive car and the municipality that he currently handles is a big give away for what he is.

Even a six year old would be able to know whose telling the truth. There are cases that guards tend to be rude but in my experience they are the older ones. The security guard in this case is young and I don't see any reason why he should be complaining for something that he's doing all day long. In our country where financial status can be based with what kind of cars we drove, everyone would know that the person whose driving that Porsche car is a rich man and with an 8 for a plate number, every one is aware that it belong to a congressman. I think this congressman is really a trouble maker, a few years ago, he was involved in a mauling incident inside a golf club in alabang (not sure of the place) and now this this one. If nothing happened in the first incident to think that it's also somebody they're against with i'm sure nothings going to happen with the guard's complaint. I guess the security gurad won't be able to get justice for what happened to him since he backed out already. I can't say that's a good move but I think that's the only practical thing to do. let's just hope that no one forgets what kind of congressman he is and everyone remembers when election comes since that's the only time small people can say it's payback time, well not unless they sell their votes again.

In my opinion, i would believe the security guard. No one would dare make an accusation like that to a rich person with bodyguards.
Poor security guard. He was the one hit by the congressman, yet he was the one cited for harassment.
In my opinion, this should be reviewed well by the Ethics committee so it will not be a precedent for other braggarts to follow.

No one seems to be giving real interest in it. Mikey appeared to be showing some interest and is just waiting for the security guard to approach him but all the while I can sense that it was a halfhearted offer since both congressmen belong to the minority. Well it seems that the security guard realized that it's a futile fight and it's not worth the risks. For now let's just think that the congressman won the fight but let's hope that his constituents won't forget this incident and realize what kind of man they voted to make laws in their behalf.

I think the poor security guard is merely avoiding the sad but true double standard of justice that prevails in our country, that is to say " the poor is always at a disadvantage against the rich". I would say he used he's head a little bit cause he does not want to endanger his life or family, think it would had been different if somebody as big or bigger (than the Cong.) stood by him, another sad fact in our society

Backing out from filing a formal complaint may not be the best course of action but I think that's the only practical thing to do. When the guard decides to go against that congressman, it will be like hitting a wall and he may even put his life in danger since this is not the first time this congressman was involved in violence. A few years ago, the same congressman was involved in a mauling incident inside agold club somewhere in alabang. If it's inside a gold club it means that his opponent that time are well to do in real life but it seems nothing has come up with that incident. If nothing happened with his rich enemies I'm sure nothing is going to happen to the security guard's complaint.

I have heard the news. The guard did not file the complaint against the congressman. I really don't know who days the truth. But I really believe on the guard because he is risking his life for that. The government should do investigation, even if the guard will not file the complaint. In this way, the people will know the truth if the congressman abuse his power.

I don't think the guard will risk his life for coming up with allegations which are not true. I also don't see any reason why the security guard would make up a story because of political plans and harass someone whose known as a trouble maker. But I can't blame him for backing out since it's just a futile fight. If he continue with the complaint he'll probably won't go very far for lack of money. Our only consolation is that people have been made aware on the kind of attitude this congressman has and they should teach him a lesson come election time.

i dont know this whole story but i have the uppermost respect for security guards just their presence makes me feel safer knowing they put their life on the line for strangers every day is a big deal to me and is not something i would be brave enough to do congressman on the other hand i dont have so much respect for i am not big into politics but from past experiences i do not trust congressmen or any type of politicians they are usually stuck up and think they know whats best for everyone

If it happened in the US it might be a different story altogether and the congressman should already be bracing himself for criticism among his peers and the public. Sadly here in the Philippines, no one is making a big deal out of it and nothing seems to be interested when the security guard decided against filing a formal complaint fearing that in may put his life in danger. In fact, it's even the congressman whose accusing the guard of harassment. But I don't really expect anything from a congressman who represents one of the poorest municipalities in this country and yet have the courage to drive a Porshe. I am hoping that his constituents will be aware of what kind of person they voted to represent them.
