People nowadays are getting health conscious that the market is now flooding with lots of herbal food supplements claiming to have lots of vitamin contents needed by our body to boost our immune system. Since I grew up taking vitamins prescribed by our pediatrician that I am a bit confused which of the two is reliable. Is it the herbal food supplements in capsules/tablets or those old synthetic vitamins which I have been used to take? However, I have also read an article before that constant taking of vitamin c can also do some damage to one's kidney because of the residue which would settle in it.Anybody who can also share his/her ideas on this?

As far as I know, excess vitamin C is flushed out of our systems and so I don't see why it should cause damage to our kidneys. I don't mind either herbal food supplements or synthetic vitamins and I don't think there are significant differences between the two. I have been taking GNC's Vit C 1000 in buffered form for some months now and I have not experienced any negative or side effects.

No, I don't have Vit C deficiency. I just don't have the habit of eating fruits and I don't like vegetables. Taking Vit C supplements is very convenient.

I also take vitamins, but my mom are buying the herbal one, she don't like synthetic she said it's not good for the body and have many bad side effect. but the problem is they are more expensive than the synthetic one. but they said synthetic vitamins has a faster effect than the herbal vitamins.
