Do you think that a computer can go without an Antivirus. I know people who still don't think that one is needed and wonder why they have to take their PC to the service point every month or two. I definitely think that you need one for your computer to be more safe. If it was all for the money making I think there wouldn't be any free ones. These days even kids are curious to hack in someones PC.

You don't need antivirus if you have a program called deepfreeze as long as you know how to use it. Antivirus eats up computer memory while running so definitely if your computer is old or has less memory then surely it will slow down when the antivirus is turned on. The advantage of deepfreeze is that it eats so little memory that you can't even feel it is running. Deepfreeze saves the disk you chose and make it 'read only' or like you cant make anymore changes into it so even if it is infected by virus all you need to do is to restart and everything will be back to normal when you turn it on.

Sorry buddy this time I disagree with you. Even Deepfreeze program help us against viruses but only protect us about 80%. Some virus still get through it. I knew it because I use this program as well.
I think the best Idea to protect us against viruses through these steps:
1. Use Anti virus. If possible (affordable), use paid membership .... if not, use free one (check in my post where you can find it)
2. Like you said, use Deepfreeze program
3. Use cookies cleaner. Some virus stay in our Pc in cookies form. Cookies cleaner also help us to connect with internet little bit faster ...... Too many cookies in our PC made internet speed run slower.

Yeah there's plenty of antivirus around as long as you know where to get. Most people in the internet shares their antivirus software key. That's really a big loss for corporations that are making antivirus. A typical antivirus would cost $40-60 for 1 year.

hmm.. well.. can you drive a car without license? definitely yes.. BMW won't start after seeing your license only.. or can you drive a car when you drunk? of course yes.. but it's all dangerous to you and others' life..
similarly.. we can run computer without any security consult.. without any antivirus.. but it's a potential risk for your system to get attacked by viruses or hacked by other resources. so it's better to keep safe side and use atleast any free antivirus like Microsoft Security Essential or AVG.. but we shouldn't use it without antivirus..

why not ? So what will happen if you get a virus ? Do you store something important on your computer ? Keep everything on an USB stick and that`s it.
I installed windows more than 100 times i think since win 95.I had viruses and most of the time i saved as much as i could of the data and then reinstalled windows. It`s not the end of the world if you get a virus,as i said it will only make you smarter like any other experience.
Free antiviruses are like holy water...they won`t do anything bad to you but they won`t help you too much.If you want good protection buy Webroot internet security or Kaspersky internet security and that`s it.The antivirus is good but it won`t give you 100% protection so you need an Internet Security suite.

These days there are a lot of antivirus softwares in the market that could perform a comprehensive detection quietly in the background and they don't use much system resources. They are inexpensive (some are freewares) but when it comes to cleaning some nasty viruses or trojan horses, I am not sure if they could perform up to their claims. From my experience, a windows computer will not easily get a virus unless the user unknowningly visited malicious sites or executed rogue softwares. Having said that, I feel it is essential for every computer at home to be installed with a reputable antivirus, not the freeware antivirus. If you can afford, you can use Sophos antivirus which is used by the British intelligence agency MI5. At home, I'm using Symantec antivirus and Mamutu as secondary backup to check for trojan horses. They don't interfere with each other which is good. Just need to keep the software updated.

It is said that a computer without antivirus that goes online will only have a few seconds before it is infected by a virus from the internet. The best tging to do is to get an antivirus before going online on to the internet or to get an antivirus from the internet as soon as you go online. There are some free antivirus softwares on the internet and they are quite good so you could download them and get good protection online.

yes you can run your PC without antivirus like I am doing....antivirus generally slowdown the computer...If you keep your windows firewall and windows defender on there will be a little chance of virus effect....And as you are asking I should tell you it is not at all safe...though if you know how to format your computer you will not need to take your PC to a service center each time it effected by Virus attack ...though it is also true that if you are using a antivirus ,your PC can still be effected by virus....

Anti-virus are a necessity in order that our computer will be safe(not totally safe but better than not being at all). There are many free anti-virus softwares online and you don't have to pay anything to avail of their features.Of course these free versions does not offer full their services but still it is enough to guard our computer.

Hi
Yes there are some users who are using their system without any anti virus. Because they do follow the proper way that avoid almost all source of virus. But having an anti virus on the safety and security point of view is important. I am not saying we need that all those costly anti viruses . But there are some free versions of anti virus also available which works well. So why not go for them.

Definitely. A computer can still run without an antivirus. But now adays when you connect to the internet some sites have virus that off course will be detected by an antivirus if your computer has one. This will prevent file loss and file corruption. But this is one thing I am sure of, not all antivirus can detect or block every virus that will enter your system though it will prevent some. This will bring your risk to minimal though. If you don't have an antivirus you better check your firewall so that it will be ON, in that way it will screen and check sites that will bring your computer at risk. And one thing more, before turning of your computer better clean it also delete cookies and clear your cache.

I've only gone with what came packaged with the Vista, which is a firewall, the updates, and some other bits an bobs, and the Vista's still alive. Unless you're going to tread into really dangerous waters, or is a paranoid, I don't think you'd really need an antivirus. I didn't.
But as they say, it's better to be safe than sorry. But for me, I'd rather be sorry regarding what I actually keep in my PC, and what the AV costs. Don't know. Just me I suppose.

Yes, the computer can go without antivirus. The problem is it is very risk for infection of virus, malware, and even Trojans. There are lot of free antivirus online like avg. But if you have money you must go to the quality antivirus. That will really help your pc in protection against unwanted software.
