No many institutions here try to develop cars and transportations using electric power instead of oil. They say the electric power a energy with no pollution.
To say the truth, I really doubt about it.
Though the transportations using electric power will not set out waste gas and liquids, but the way to produce electric power will also cause problems. The earthquake of Japan in March 11, tell us that the way to produce electric power is not save and friendly to the environment.

yes electricity is much much pollution free than petrol and diesel ....in Japan crisis arised since it was nuclearpower plant and not conventional power plant with emission of radioactive eays that r far more dangerous to us.
I hope in near future vehicle will use electricity rather than petrol and diesel

I agree with you to an extent. However, what happened in Japan was the occurence of cataclysmic earthquake and resulting Tsunami, of such a great magnitude that the nuclear reactors could not withstand the impact and that set off nuclear radiation, and hence the crisis followed. If the reactors had been stronger, or earthquake not so powerful, the impact would have been lesser. Coming back to the question of production of cleaner electricity, we have alternate sources- Solar energy, wind power and Geo-Thermal energy, which could be harnessed to produce electricity, though it can take a lot of investments. However, the investments pay off in the longer run.

I agree with you. Whether electric power creates pollution depends on the process of production. In my view, electric cars will gradually replace gasoline cars in the future. It's true that the traditional power plants also pollute the air in the process of generating electricity. But don't forget that the combust efficiency of a big power plant is higher than a small gasoline car. And power plants could invest a lot in reducing the air pollution. As for the clean energy, I'm sure with the progress of science and technology the safety of such power plant will improve gradually. And the cost of generating electricity in these plants will be reduced. Then air pollution will never be a problem to human beings.

Good electric motors are made since more than a century, but the main problem for a car is to stock energy : batteries have not a large autonomy, need time to be recharged, and are a potential source of pollution : they don't last long and need a careful recycling. Lithium in actual batteries is a lot more difficult to recycle than lead in old batteries...

It really depends on the source of electricity. Some electricity are produced by coal and even nuclear. Some electricity are produced from hydro and wind turbine. If the electricity is produced by coal it would really indicate pollution in the area. It is better to invest in natural or clean energy they say, this will really help a lot in the future and in the environment.

I agree with you,it is true that car which use the the electric as a main energe does not pollute the air.but the electric is mainly from the coal ?
