India

Hi friends I want to discuss here with you my preferences of wearing traditional and modern dresses . I prefer to wear mostly western modern dresses than traditional ones . Firstly they are comfortable and easy to carry and secondly they are trendy .But I make it a point to wear traditional dresses at some ocassions loke marriage or religious gathering . Sometimes at some functions at the educational institution I also wear ethnic dresses .Most of the time at work and home I always wear modern trendy clothes as I feel happy and cool wearing them . But I never wear something which looks odd or obscene . What about you friends ? Do let me know your choices and preferences .

while coming to clothes i dont want to go for traditional vs modern, every one has their own view that how he/she look in traditional or modern dresses, many of the people are wearing modern dresses they feel comfortable with that, now a days it became fashion that they feel traditional dress should be wear in occasions only, what ever it might be wearing comfortable clothes makes good impression to others also, in my view some dresses to be banned, every one knows which type of dresses to be banned....

Each adopts a style of clothing and is very good, otherwise we get bored seeing on next door ... "uniforms". The important thing is to feel good in that dress, to be somewhat appropriate place and time of day or night, that dress is like a second skin. Clothing has two roles: to keep us warm and make us unique, my opinion!

Thanks a lot for your comments , very appreciable and to the point .Well said 'dress is a second skin' .We must wear our clothes as per our need , suitability , place and ofcourse keeping in mind our comfort level . But as our discussion is mainly on modern vs traditional clothing we must keep in mind that sometimes we need to compromise on the set standards and wear clothes as per the demand of the day . Usually on the days of marriage or national ocassion we find it important if not mandatory to wear traditional clothes .

I lived in a country where we adopt the western way of living (most of it) and dress wear is one of those. We only wears traditional dresses very rare, for very special gatherings , yes, like marriages. But even with marriages some people still wear the modern/western dresses. At home I use loose clothing, like shirt and shorts. When going out for shopping or strolling, a shirt and skirt will do. Or slacks or loose pants will do. have a good day jaiho®

Hi Jai ! how are you doing ? In our country women who are working in private sectors and multinational companies mostly wear western clothes both for comfort and style . For some social functions where traditional clothes are mandatory / important they wear such clothes . I find it quite accepatable . I too wear comfort wears at home and mostly western attire when I go out . Thanks for your response . Good luck to you !

In my country there is a traditional garment that is still in use until now, namely Batik. This Traditional clothing can be coupled with modern clothing.

in my opinion it depends of the day, ocasion and so. sometimes old seems better but other times a little bit odd. I like to use e mix betwen both of them. it gives a diferent style. and when you like both of them, why not trying?

i agree on the above respondents.. in our community we rarely wear traditional dressess..we just often use them on school whenever we have programs to be celebrated or if we are required to wear due to some occassions..i dont see people in our community using traditional dresses in an ordinary day.. so i guess modern dresses are used by most of us today..

Thanks jeztrose for your response . Nice to know views . Actually people now prefer to wear dresses those that are comfortable than those which are heavy to carry .
