My biological father left my mom when she found out she was pregnant with me. She was 17 years old when she had me. I have heard on many different occasions that my mom and grandmother tried several times to get him to take a DNA test because apparently he has denied me from day one. He would never show up to get the test. My mom eventually gave up on trying. 28 years later and I find out I have siblings (that Ive never met) My half brother OD'ed about a year ago. I guess that made dad want to meet his grandchildren.. oh did I add he is an alcoholic. Drinking occasionally is ok but he drinks everyday. After thinking about it I told his family that if he can go one day without drinking then I will be more than happy to meet him. I havent heard from him since. That was about a year ago. Guess he couldnt go one day without drinking. So why do I still refer to him as my dad... he has never been there before what made me think he would be there now.

Thaht is so messed up. He should have stopped for the rest of his life to be with you and to catch up on lost time. He has no heart are feelings. how could he do that

I think that there is a very big difference between being a Father and being a Father figure in the life of a child. Anybody can be a biological Father, but at the end of the day they have to be there for their children as well in order to fill the role properly. I know of many people who don't have Fathers in their lives and they are affected negatively because of that. I also know of many people who have step fathers, and they are excellent with them, and this is much more meaningful than people who don't have that kind of person in their lives.
