Is this how its done in your country too?

Push Bumpers - QPP's new push bumpers
Canada
September 8, 2011 5:07pm CST
On the news here today, they said that the Quebec Provincial Police would be sporting new "push bumpers" from now on. They say that if a car is stalled and in the way of other cars, they will now be able to push the car out of the way.. Im not sure if its a good idea or not. Oh sure Id hate to be sitting in my car waiting for a towing truck to come along and take a stalled car way, but on the other hand, Id hate to be the one having to be pushed. Who will pay for the damage if the cop is a bit too "trigger happy" and pushes too hard, damaging my SUV!! What if they decide to do this because they are in a hurry to get to Tim Horton's for a Donut and push you out of the way? So tell me if the police in your area have those bumpers on the front of their cars and if they use it to push cars out of the way? Does it damage the cars when they do?

Well I havent seen it happen as of yet but Im sure I will eventually. They say they'll push a car thats stalled or had an accident and stuck in the middle of the road causing a traffic jam. They are to push it to the curb until a tow truck can come and take it away. Sometimes, new ideas might not be the best ones!

The cops here drive Citroens. They couldn't push a coke can without damaging themselves! I must be getting old. I remember the time when cars actually had bumpers!

You're right about real bumpers. I used to own Cadillacs from 1972 to 1981 and they all had good bumpers on them. I could push another car who was in trouble and not even make a dent on my bumper. I wouldnt try this today with my Kia SUV. Ive never seen a Citroens here....Ive seen them in French movies and arent those cars able to lift up and down?

I am sure if they install these that they will make them out of rubber so they do not harm your vehicle in any way at all. I think these could be a good idea if very busy roads. They do not have these in my country and they use their lights to get their donuts they do not need to play bumper cars. Ohh but that would be fun

Hey I do not blame them they are free!!! who doesn't like free stuff? But that sucks if they are metal. I would sue for damage and I am sure I am not going to be the only one!

Here too they use their lights when in a rush for a donut!! I dont think they're made of rubber, they sure look like metal to me. I have NO idea who it'll work but sure hope they wont because they are on their way to Tim Horton's for a donut!!
