Are you looking forward to it?

We had a perfect summer here. Its been hot with just enough rain now and then to keep our lawns and gardens lush. It started on a bad note with some flooding South of where I live but then we couldnt ask for more. People are happy, smiling and enjoying the warm, sunny days.
But, since we are human beings, we need to want more And even though it was a perfect summer, now Im starting to hear people yearning for winter, for the cold and the snow.
They even had a poll going on on tv wondering if people were looking forward to winter and 93% said they are!!!
I must admit that Im also looking forward to winter. I guess it goes with the territory. We are a country with four seasons, and we do enjoy all of them. Im looking forward to wear my soft sweaters, to be bundled up in fleece, wearing my warm pj's around the house.
So what about you, how was your summer this year? If you have cold winters with snow, are you looking forward to it?

I think it is funny because when it is summer we want winter and when it is winter we want summer, I do the exact same thing. I complain all winter long and the when summer hits I am not happy then either. I am a very hard person to make hAppy and keep it that way.

I am getting kind of scared of winter coming. I drive a standard and I have to drive to school no mater what. Last year we drove a cavalier and it was awesome in the snow. Now I am a bit scared. Maybe I can drive my boyfriends big four wheel drive mud truck to school.

@ Amanda: I sure hope you'll be able to drive your boyfriend's big 4 wheel truck. Ive never driven a standard and the only reason I never did is because I was afraid in the snow and on the ice, what it must be like. Maybe you can have someone have you practice in a mall parking lot so that you know how to handle it?
You're right that we always want something else......I guess thats what makes us humans
@ Mokkka: Im sorry you dont like winter. There are places where its always summer. Maybe you'd be able to move there eventually?

Nope, I am definitely not looking forward to Winter. If we did not have at least a moderate change in season I do not think that I would be very happy, but I really am not looking forward to Winter. I did not get to enjoy this Summer as much as I had hoped that I would, and it is over way too quickly. Now, we are already starting to get dark earlier and earlier, and it is just too depressing.

I think you are right that I should make sure to get enough vitamin D and get out in the sunshine as much as possible during the day as that is supposed to help. One of the things that bothers me the most, though, is that during the summer, when it is light longer, 5:00 does not seem very late, and there is plenty of time to do things in the evening. During the winter, though, 5:00 seems very late, and there is hardly time to do anything before it is time for bed.

Oh yes, the days are getting shorter and shorter. But its still very hot here and humid. We had thunderstorms this PM that lasted about 10 minutes, then the sun came out and it was just as hot and humid
The evenings are a bit cooler now and they say we'll have a late fall and a late winter. I cant wait to wear my warm clothes
Im sorry you find it depressing. Maybe you need to buy one of those lights that mimicks daylight? Remember your D vitamin!!

I know, most people dont feel like working or doing anything when its dark. Im the opposite, I get my energy back when it gets dark. True hubby has been working nights for a very long time, so we go to bed around 5AM and get up around noon. So my days are mostly after midnight when its dark. Lucky we live in a house and not an apartment building where I would wake up everybody when I vacuum

Yes, in a lot of ways I am looking forward to winter, but not until we have had a decent fall. I have some nice warm clothes to wear, and I am now working from home, so I hope I will enjoy it. I love all the seasons, but I am ready for summer to move on out.

No, I do not have a fireplace. I enjoy sitting outside in brisk weather with a fire in the barbecue or fire pit. I used to take my kids to the park and heat homemade cocoa and make som 'ores on the grill at the park at night and look up at the stars through the crisp night air.

Sounds like we both feel the same. I too am waiting for a nice fall season. Its not happening here as of yet, its still very hot here now. The leaves on the trees are still green but Im SO looking forward to the colorful fall foliage. Im a sucker for it all.
As for the clothes, I so love how it feels, the thick sweaters, the soft fleece pj's. Ahhh its gonna be here soon. I forgot the hot chocolate and soup. Do you have a fireplace? I have one but havent used it in years. I think it would be lovely to sit by the fire when theres a snowstorm outside.

Our weather has been slow to change. Labor Day weekend was nearly 100 degrees and since, this past Friday we hit 102, but by Sunday we dropped to 83 degrees. It's suppose to remain in the 80's for the rest of the week. Our weather doesn't typically change until around Halloween. I'm enjoying the cooler temps for the time being. I just don't expect it to last, lol.

Here after the searing summer heat we get the rainy season. This is the season where monsoons are active over most parts of India. Then there is a season where we get moderate weather. This is followed by winter.Winter other than the northern part of the country isn't severe. It is only freezing weather in the Himalayas and the extreme north. The other parts of the country have a mild winter when compared to western nations.

Your monsoons season sounds a little like our fall here. It usually rains more in the fall but not as much as it does for you though. Then it gets cold and the rain turns to ice, then if we're lucky, it turns to snow. I prefer snow over ice.
Does it mean you've never seen snow before then?

I'm absolutely looking forward to winter. Actually fall too, since it hasn't really arrived here yet. It's a very slow transation this year, it seems. Next week is still going to be an indian summer-ish one. But at least it is bound to happen: the sun sets sooner (which I love!) and the weather gets cold, so we can actually wear more clothes and feel a lot better. At least that's me, I'm suffering all the way through every summer, waiting for the cold.

You're like my hubby, he hates it when its too hot. He loves winter. Well sounds like its not going to happen anytime soon here. We broke a heat record last week and looks like we will again this week. Its still hot and humid here. I have the a/c on right now. Ive washed all my winter clothes, Im ready but cant wear any of it just yet. Still wearing no sleeves top!!
A farmer once told me that you can tell if the winter will be cold by the thickness of the skin on onions. ITs not very thick here, so Im guessing we'll have a very long fall once it starts and probably not much of a winter.

Good Morning,
We had a nice summer here. Due to Hurricane Irene, we had much more rain in a short period of time than we are used to having. Like you, I love different things about each of the four seasons. We are blessed to have four seasons. When it comes to winter, I think snow is beautiful. I love watching the snow fall, I just don't care much for driving out in the snow. During the winter months, I enjoy drinking hot chocolate and having fires in the fireplace.
Have a great day!

Isnt it fun to sit indoors and watch the snow fall? I love it and I think I'll get my fireplace going this year.
I too dont like to drive in the snow or ice but since I dont have to leave the house to work, all's well!! I can finally enjoy the winter season and not have to worry.
So you and me are going to wear our fleece pj's, sit in front of the fireplace with a hot choco and enjoy it all!!!

I don't usually wait for winter. It's too cold here even though it doesn't snow. I don't like it too cold because I feel it'd make me sick that easy.

Im so sorry it makes you sick. You need to take some Zinc in order to stay healthy. We have a show on tv and the doctors said that zinc does work. . Maybe you dont get dressed warmly since you have no snow and thats why you get sick?

Well the summer was extreme this year. There was a lot of sun and a lot, really lots of rain. We had the scorching sun or the crazy rainfall all summer. And actually it felt like they were substituting one another It was like 2 weeks of sun then 2 weeks of rain and then sun and back to rain. God the rain and the sun this year was so crazy and apparently it has happened after 10 long years. there were a cases of landslides killing number of people too
And yes, it did make me miss winter coz the weather was burning. But I remember complaining last winter as much, wanting summer to come soon. And I am sure I will miss summer again once winter arrives. I guess that is just how human nature is, wanting things that one can't have(?)

Yup, its human nature!! . I know about the crazy weather, our spring was bad for people South of where I live. They had floods and landslides also. Too much rain, way too much.
But Im about 1hr from those people and didnt have any rain here. We had a SUPER summer, hot, humid, scorching and only a few minutes of rain maybe once a week, just enough to keep the grass green when it needed it.
Its still very hot here now and it'll be all week they say and maybe for a while. Not sure what is going on with our fall season......I guess it'll be late as spring was.
I sure hope the weather will be great for you from now on. Stay safe!!
