Opening an online gambling site. pro's and con's

I'm just wondering. I want to open my own gambling site. But unlike the gambling sites that we have right now. I want to open a gambling site in which I can earn money but same time I can promote it as a game and not totally a casino type gambling. Like for example a task or a level game but instead of earning points and losing points your earning and losing money. Any suggestion or idea?

I play in two games where you can earn real money. One is Second Life and earnings are from doing real stuff such as creating content or providing services.
The other is called Entropian Universe. You can buy game money with real money and then hunt, craft or mine. You can also be a trader and buy stuff low and sell high. This game is thought of a lot as gambling by the players.
I am very interested in game sites where you can earn money and even more interested in creating or working with something like what you propose.
My main interest is in MMO type of games with strong social interaction. I have an idea that I was working on some time ago but lack the skills to pull it off and the partner I was working with disappeared.

Thanks. But its seem it will be blind leading the blind for me. Since as you said your partner left you. And its seem after he left its seems you become stagnant. So that means your partner can do without you but you can't do without your partner. I prefer to do it my own also. I prefer to create my own program. I just want a lending hand and I think if you want to help you can just post it in here for every body to see and read. thanks.

I don't see it as unfavorable assumption. As you said you have lack the skills to pull it off. And I'm too have lack the skills to pull it off. That why I said its like blind leading the blind. Because You and me have no skills to pull it off. Its reality that what I'm trying to say. Sorry if you think that way. And I explained it also that I want a lending hand. If you have lack the skills as you said then how can you help me? Same thing to me. I don't have enough skills to pull this through so even if we help each others I don't think we will go anywhere right?

I play poker online, but not really interested with any other gambling online stuff. Your idea sounds unique, but it would probably have a hard time gaining players because people choose to gamble on easy things and things they could enjoy or things that require them to "play", but maybe you can make a workaround with this idea. I just don't have a clue how you could really make it work, but good luck!

I'm playing poker online too. In pokerstars. Anyway. Its like this. Just an example. Like for example a racing car. You can create or build your own car. But first you need to deposit lets say 25 dollars. then you can buy a car and race it. If you win I you will get 180%. that means 20% of earnings goes to me. Like that kind of rules. And same time a player can invest more by buying more parts to make his car run faster. Etc.

I did play there and more in Fulltilt too, but you probably know what happened to the latter. Anyway, you lost me with your example there. I just don't get how you are trying to make it. I mean buy car from where? Would anybody really spend 25 dollars for an imaginary thing. I know I have heard friends spent so much for items in an MMORPG world but, I just wouldn't consider it that quick. Even some of my friends had to be laying the game for a while before actually buying those stuff. Still, you're idea could be great, I just don't get it yet.

The minimum to join the race is one dollar. But in one dollar you can just buy lets say a minicar. And of course the speed of that car is slow. And the prices are low also. But if you want to have a lets say ferrari then you must invest 25 dollars minimum. If your a car racing addict I'm sure you will invest 25 dollars.

I don't think many people will like to gamble without the real money.
This is the problem of human-beings. They are greedy.
for me, I am the same too.
ha! ha!
If I gamble to win or to lose the points, I think I am wasting my time.
Maybe, I shall try once or twice when I have nothing to do. But I am sure I shall not purposely to go online for this type of gambling.
