So I am not a major metal head or anything like that. To be completely honest with you I really don't listen to it at all very much. Like maybe once in every blue moon. However, I have to say that one band around my way has been catching my eye a lot. Like this one band makes metal sound good, and I'm not even a metal fan.
I ran across them at a local fundraiser for Kicking Cancer for kids and the band name is Black Lung Prophecy. Apparently they have videos and everything up on youtube about that concert they did there, and I thought it was really impressive.
I really don't understand how I could like heavy metal because to be honest with you I am much more of an R&B kind of girl. Is there any music that is so completely out of your genre that you like? Or am I the only one out there that has a metal spot apparently on my head? lol. For me to like even a group that sings heavy metal is completely weird because R&B is my thing, but apparently this band has something about them that I like. What do you all think, am I crazy or do you find yourself sometimes going out of your genre?

4 Years ago I listened to R&B, Hip Hop , Rap and all those things that were on MTV.
Everyone have to start with that, because that is the only music that they can listen to because of media like MTV.
Today that is main genre I listen to.
That doesn't necessarily mean you will do too, this is just my experience.
Anyway, you shouldn't restrict yourself with one genre, you should listen anything you like, that is the only way you can enjoy music.

I am mainly a metal head but I venture outside my genre every once in awhile to. I think it's good to listen to many different genres of music. No one should be pigeon holed into liking one specific genre of music. I think even though you like mainly R&B you should give metal a chance. Because so many people as soon as someone mentions metal they disregard it because they think all it is, is loud instruments with people screaming. Granted some artist's that's all they are. But some metal artists are the most talented artists, and write some of the most poetic lyrics I've ever heard. Metal has developed into so much more now and days than just being angry and screaming into a microphone.

I like alternative and rock songs. But I'm not really a fan of heavy metal music because it is too loud. I like songs of Goo goo dolls, FM Static, 3 doors down and many alternative music artists. I also like rock song by Bon Jovi or Red hot chili pepper band.

I myself listen to every single type of music so I can't really say that we are the same in that respect. I will say that you even giving the style a chance shows you ability to try new things and that is a great attribute.I haven't heard of that band so I will definitely be searching them later. Even more so since they did a fund raiser like that, which a lot of people don't realize most heavy metal bands do that all the time and just are very caring people.

hi:)
I also like listening to music,RnB,and alternative rock is my fave genre, but I also listen to heavy metal, I like those songs of black sabbath and metallica, but I don't listen to this kind of music all the time, only if I do house chores, it's because it can help me boost my energy.
have a good day friend!

I used to be a very big heavy metal fan. I said "used to" because right now, I am into everything Christian, though I have some Christian music that seem to be on that genre. I used to listen to Slayer, Sepultura, Metallica, anything that's loud. One of the reason why I used to listen to this kind of music (which I think still applies to this day) was because I like to play the guitar and listening to them makes me wanna try to play their riffs and licks on my guitar.
