Fires getting closer and closer

Yesterday a few little fires a little ways outside of town started, they haven't determined a cause so far. But today it's grown into a beast that's consumed over 2000 acres, 9 homes, and forced who knows how many at this point to evacuate. I've heard 800-1000 firefighters, plus helicopters dropping chemicals.
Our neighbor's uncle told her if it got to town to take the kids to the courthouse, "because the fire won't go through the stone walls". Well no, but the smoke would kill ya first, if not the heat. I personally don't think that's a very good strategy!
I can smell the smoke, there's a heavy cloud hanging over town, its making the moon red tonight. They're saying around 2 weeks to get it under control!
Geez I hope it goes faster, I don't want to have to leave having just got here. I left the south with my kid to get away from an abusive relationship, and having to grab my cats and kid and run again, with nothing, will REALLY be bad!
I hear it's on the national news, but I don't know, don't have tv. There's a lot of pictures and video out there, (no speakers so I don't watch the video right now). It's Klickitat county in Washington.
So anyone else near fires? How close would it get before you'd leave, especially if you were in the middle of town?

It is just bad the fire can spread os quickly, the dry weather and high temperatue do not make the bad situation any better this time, with so much wind blowing around the perimeter, the scenario is going to become worse before it can turn for the best.

Yes and what little rain there is around doesn't reach us. The winds tend to stay pretty high in this area, all you have to is look around that the hundreds of wind generators. I'm just hoping that it won't spread towards town any further. Sure could use some of that rain that's getting dumped where they don't need it!
