I was quite shocked when i heard about it on the news yesterday. The owner, I think it was in Indonesia, went on a vacation for more or less 2 weeks and when he came back, the dogs ate him and all that was left were his bones.. I can't really say much about this, although it was bad of the dogs to do that, but why didn't the ownr even assign someone to feed them while he was away? Maybe the dogs went crazy after not eating anything..

Hi stanley!
I have seen this headline in yahoo news but I did not get to read it. Did this really happen? I mean, it's really scary when you think of it. Although it was probably the owner's fault for starving his dogs, it's scary to think that the animals you've domesticated will eat you. You're probably right that they've gone crazy. I think animals will really eat anything when they're super duper hungry. They probably did not recognize the face of their owner anymore. Not even his scent. That's a really terrible thing to happen.
I am glad our dog doesn't get hungry like that. I mean, I feed him everyday so he won't ever get hungry like that.

Hello secretbear,
Yeah, I guess it did really happened in Indonesia. It was in the evening news yesterday. It's really shocking, yes we can read about owners being bitten by their dogs but this is horrible. I guess no matter how domesticated animals are we are not really sure what they can do. It's the fault of the owner too leaving his dogs with out food for two weeks is not a good idea. He should have let someone look after them while he is away. Thanks for your time.

I've seen that news, too and there are pictures. It's really horrible. Poor dogs and poor owner. Yeah, he should have asked or paid someone to feed the dogs while he was gone.

So, having known that dogs can pose danger to it's owner too if they are left to starve. I heard too that dog meat is a delicacy in Indonesia so I think the owner will sell it to butchers.

This is a shocking story. Maybe dog owners will now think twice before leaving their dogs without any food at all. But I can't really imagine why they ate their master. Aren't dogs man's best friend. How could they do that to their best friend? Why didn't these dogs just eat each other if they were really that hungry? Oh so many why's to answer but there are lessons to learn from this story. First, don't leave and let your dog's starving for long. Second, if you can't attend to a dog's need, don't bring any dog into your home. Third, dogs can be cannibals so beware of them.

Oh yes, he is into dog selling business maybe. That is a big possibility on that basis. I also don't think having 7 dogs is only for pet purposes. I for one have 3 pet dogs but if I would have the choice I would rather have just one or two the most but my husband added another one so what can I do. I am just very careful not to starve them lest they eat me!

The most common number of pet dogs we have is 1 or 2. Some people are into dog breeding so most of the time they have many dogs to fed. Here in our country I guess there is no such news as owner eaten by his pet but pets eaten by his owner.

Yes, it's really is. Dog are man's best friend but what happened here is purely neglect of his irresponsibility as a pet owner. But I don't think too that having 7 dogs to care for is not to be his pets but maybe he is into something. If I remember right, I have read a part that dog meat is very popular in Indonesia. Maybe the owner is in dog business. But even though, he should not had let his dogs starve for two weeks.

Yeah, poor dogs too. Even if it were people, maybe they would have done the same thing, not eating for more than two weeks is very painful and one might lose his or her sanity..

The poor dogs must be very, very hungry that they thought he was a walking piece of meat. I hope this story is not true because I do not want to think that dogs could do that to their owner. Dog owners also should give up their dog or dogs if they could not properly take care of them. When they go on vacation they should hire someone to look after the poor animals.

Yeah, why would someone want to have pets if they don't know how to care for them. There is no one to blame but the owner for what had happened to him.The news said it really happened in Indonesia. Well I feel sorry for the guy but animals are animals they just do things for what they are called.

yeah, I've heard this news too. It is amazing. while why the master of these dogs did not leave enough food when he left his building? Maybe it is kinda stupid...I do not think these dogs regarded him as food, they just hated him.

Leaving those dogs without food is unrealistic. He might have asked someone to look after and feed them while he is away if he truly cares for the dogs. But I think theses dogs are not pet's of the owner since they are too many to feed. Maybe he is into business or something.

Though I might sound cruel and crude, I have to say that it served the man just right. Imagine leaving the dogs for two weeks with nobody to care for them! What about their food, water and toilet? How could the man be so insensitive and leave them just like that!

Yeah, we can say that it's his own fault. And because of this neglect he had to pay a gruesome price. But I was thinking though that if these 7 dogs are really his pets I guess he won't leave them without food for two weeks or have at least someone look after them while his gone. Maybe he is in dog meat business very popular delicacy in their country.

I agree with you where you state that the owner should have assigned someone to feed the dogs while he was on vacation. It's such a sad story, considering that the poor dogs most likely had to go hungry all the time the owner was away. It's said to think that the owner could have been so negligent, but it's also sad about what happen to the owner of the dogs.

Yeah, I can't really put the blame on anyone, no one deserves that kind of situation to happen to him or her.. They were both victims.. But I was really confused why the owner would just leave the animals like that.. but now we can never know the answer.

Yes, I think so too. With that much dog to feed I guess he is in dog meat business. I think I have read about that part. Unless he is sheltering animals especially dogs who have no owners.

Hiya Stan,
Read about this yesterday on the News of the webpage yahoo.co.uk. I was wondering if he had left them in the care of someone else who he thought was trustworthy and might have even paid him you know to go and feed them every Day and give them Water?
Even so it was very wrong to go and leave the poor animals like that all alone.
If he did get someone to look after them they obviously did not turn up.
Otherwise he left them on their own thinking that they would fend for themselves I suppose.
If it was too hot and they were very hungry well it does not bear thinking about for me.
What will happen to the Dogs now and I feel sorry for the owner to have to die like that as well.
Who knows what has really happened there?

I don't think the owner did left these dogs on purpose without food. I guess it's fine just for a day but it's unreasonable to left them on their own without food for two weeks. Animal instincts for survival prevails if they are left to starve and without any choice they would kill just to satisfy their hunger. I think two dogs have been eaten already by other dogs before the owner arrived. It's really horrible but I think it is the owner's fault for what had happened to him.

Omg that was scary! I hadn't heard of it but thanks for sharing.
Wow I think it was like you said, the dogs went crazy coz they were hungry. Did the man not leave anyone to look after hos dogs? If so, I think it was a bit reckless of the owner to let them just be and starve.

We can not say that he leaves them on purpose, maybe he forgets to asked someone to look after them while he is away. Animals are animals and we don't know what's on their mind. It's really horrible, but there's no one to blame but him.

I think they might even kill them instead.. I think the dogs went crazy since they did not find any food in that closed residence, but dogs who have no owners are more free and can find food for themselves..

it was really shocking.. i haven't heard such news..i commonly knew dogs would bite but to totally eat humans?? that's kinda crazy i think..well if that story was true then we must learn something from it..we must not let our dogs to starve that much.. coz i think the dogs wer very hungry that's why they have eaten their owner..so sad to hear it that way..

Yeah, it's really shocking an unbelievable. Just imagining it is really horrible. But I guess it's the fault of the owner, leaving you dogs for two weeks without anything is a no no. It was broadcast in the news yesterday, you can see it too in the internet. Maybe seeing the owner is some kind of a relief for the dogs, seeing no alternative to satisfy their hunger they settled for the owner.
