hi friends.wont be one of my long winded ones again so make it short.
holding said that dhoni should not be blamed for india's poor performance in england.
my question:
If dhoni gets credited for world cup victory ( after a disasterous world cup campaign as a batsmen, before saving face in finals )when quality players like sachin, yuvraj and zaheer led the team to finals, why should he not be blamed for the performance in england when those players are not available?
may be the quote A CAPTAIN IS AS GOOD AS HIS TEAM is remembered only when India loses and forgotten conveniently during victories?

This is one of the reason why I think people are inconsistent and illogical with their thinking.
If a capatain is called "ALL TIME GREAT" "BEST CAPTAIN EVER" etc after winning some series then he is also RESPONSIBLE for failures.
If success is credited to the Captain then failure should also be credited to the captain.
I did find it amusing when everyone was calling Dhoni greatest ever captain etc. Do they just go by excitement?
I still believe Ganguly's 2003 World cup Final was as good as winning World cup in 2011. Because at that time India played against Aussies at their top form and it was abroad. People don't take all these things into consideration and start praising.
Dhoni is really good but is he really the best ever? What about those captains who had a poor team? Are they bad just because they didn't win as often?
Selective amnesia is the big problem.
Happy Mylotting!

i remember a certain quote from a great player.
Sir Don Bradman.
during the 1947-48,india tour of australia, india didn't play well obviously.
Lala Amarnath was the captain.
at the end of the series,Sir Don was asked " if you were the captain of indian team and amarnath the captain of australian team, would the result be different?".the Don replied,"the result would be the same ".
lol.
i wont disagree with the great one.

I tend to agree with Holding on this one. I think BCCI has to shoulder a lot of the blame for not giving enough rest to players after the world cup. Then we had the injuries coming to key players and that resulted in the team completely dismantled and an inexperienced side that was like fodder to the English team.
Cheers!

starduscdsd:
In any venture credit or debit goes to the leader. Accordingly if it is success or failure credit or debit will go to the leaer - Dhoni.
Of course one team cannot fail unless most of the members fail to perform.

Today I have made a posting regarding this. Can one image an Indian team without Sachin,Sehvag,Gambhir,Yuvraj and Saheer. They are the match winning players other than Dravid, Laxman and Dhoni.Harbachan has turned as a batsman than a match winning bowler.India was with an upper hand in I test till Saheer was injured. On the other hand Engiand is with full force and confidence of Ashes win in Australian ground after 24 years. There was bad umpiring as well as affects of rain. There is no need to blame Dhoni.
