which side are you on?

I'll give you a situation which I know one of you mylotters have experienced this. If you have a friend who tells you everything, any secrets he/she has, and I mean everything. And you know that what he/she does is bad. Now, the partner of your friend (a girlfriend, a wife, anything you had in mind) asked you if your friend is cheating on him/her (the partner). will you tell him/her the truth or no? so which side are you on? To your friend or to his partner?

I do have a friend who tells me all her secrets but if her boyfriend asked me I wouldn't even give him a no or yes question I'd tell him to speak to my Friend. This actually happened by the way her bf texted me before because my friend uses my phone sometimes to call him and he asked me if my friend hangout with boys or is she seeing anyone else. I told him "would you like to talk to her?" and I passed my phone to my friend.
