OMG ! My account has been deleted !

Have you found an internet account closed when trying to log in ? It happened to me several times in Paid To sites. I forgot to log in during a month, and found the account suspended, or even deleted. But I just had an irritating cloud computing experience. I was searching vainly a document and I thought it was perhaps on a Google Documents account. I had not logged in this account since 4 or 5 months, and, OMG ! "There are no Google account associated with this email address". It was not a Gmail email address and Google deleted the account. After all, I don't pay for the service and they can terminate an account when they wish, though it is infuriating ! Bye bye documents ! Does something like this happened to you ? Any experience of a suspended/deleted/blocked etc account to share ?

Oops! Make sure you keep the things you need at handy, otherwise you won't find them when you need them the most! Do you have any chance to recover the documents from your deleted account? I got an yahoo mail account deleted years ago. It wasn't really mine, I had created it for my parents but they only logged on once or twice then forgot about it. When I wanted to download some photos my brother had sent them, I found the account deleted due to inactivity. It must have been a few years of inactivity, I can't blame yahoo for cancelling it.

See, I told him that my expert stalking abilities would come in handy some day. I will just have to look through those pictures and see if any of them contain the documents that he needs.

I never got deleted on any site due to inactivity, I do not hibernate more than 30 days, I think it's because all my sites are in my bookmarks so I just drop it down to check and know right away which site I have not visited for quite sometime.

"I do not hibernate more than 30 days" You are lucky. Unfortunately, I have had computer problems a few times in the last couple of years that have kept me from being on the Internet for several months at a time, even though I was not hibernating and did not want this inactivity.

The accounts I was speaking about were also suspended last year when I was not at home and it was not easy to log in for me.

@purplealabaster, actually I have a back up pc, I use a different one from what my children are using, but we sort of use each others if one has a serious problem. Being off line for a long time would cause me to lose much plus the anxiety that comes with not being able to use the PC for just a few hours or days because I sort of developed an addiction or dependence to it. @topffer, actually I had lost accounts also thru inactivity but that was after the site scammed me, they made me wait for payment, then I stop going there but would just be tempted to login just to see what's happening, and that's where i found out I had been deleted for inactivity

You now have e-mail accounts telling you that you are an invalid? I guess that your wheelchair escapades must have reached epic proportions for this sort of news to have reached them already.

Yes, I have had it happen to me. One time it was an affiliate program where the owner just deleted all the members that weren't active enough to suit him and then blamed it on a "server move". I lost all my referrals and when I complained, he told me he could restore my account but not my referrals. Needless to say, I didn't have him restore my account. I think the program eventually folded once word got out about how he ran his program. I also ran into a problem with MSN Hotmail. I had a Hotmail account basically as a junk account. I use it if I feel that giving an email address will result in spam and I check it every once in a while to clean it out. Well, I had used that email to sign up for a newsletter and I did check and read the emails when I signed in. I guess I hadn't signed in for a couple of months or so and when I did, I found that all the emails in my inbox had been deleted. My account was still there but all my emails were gone. When I complained, I was told that they do that if you don't sign in often enough. Nice of them, eh? I don't have a problem with a program deleting inactive members. After all, if someone isn't going to use the program, why should they clutter their servers with the data? What amazes me though is that some programs do it after only a very short "inactive" period, which I don't think is right and most of them will delete members without ever giving them a warning. Hey, how about a simple email notification that says something like, "Dear member, you account will be deleted in 30 days for inactivity." Wouldn't that be just common courtesy? A lot of admins don't bother though. Another time, I joined a program called Birejji and used it for a few hours. I went back the next day and when I went to log in, it said my account didn't exist. I sent several email requests for support or at least an explanation and they all went unanswered. I gave up at that point concluding that it must be a scam, or at least the most poorly run program that I had ever come across. It's still around though. I guess it all boils down to the fact that some programs are well run and some are poorly run. The only thing we can do is to steer clear of the poorly run ones and spread the word about them to help others avoid getting treated the same way.

Millions of mail ids are created on a daily basis and the database management system may be loaded and as and when this process is getting increased the volume also increasing. This may be the reason why many ids get deleted if they are not active for a particular period of time. Some of the companies used to say if the site is no longer active for 45 days, 3 months etc., it will automatically get deleted on a timely basis. Some time it will help and people who don't use for 3 months, many not prefer to work on it for a continuous basis so that it it is recommended to delete. Some people create alternative ids. But if we use the same login or mail id, sometime they would say the id or email is already existing. In that case, we can request for a new pwd or ask for the forgetting login name. However, I got only 2 ids one official and the other one for personal. That is good enough and more accounts which are created may found inconvenience to operate. Thank-s

You are very active I guess, that's why you want to be in everything every one is... Well, I am here at Mylot practically almost everyday except on Weekends and holidays. But I am so lazy these day and like you I did not see a clear direction to be so active...

Hi, topffer. This is what I dislike about online sites. They will delete your account if you have not been active. They don't know if you may have just forgotten about the site by accident. I haven't had an account of mines that has been deleted so far that I know of. But, I have been trying to log into nominimum.com website and I have been having a very hard time trying to log in properly. I know that I am typing in my correct log in account information, but I am still receiving an error of my log in information being invalid. I have not been presently active at this site for at least two weeks, and now I can't even log in properly. I am going to contact the admin about this issue.

Well what can we expect for a site to hold our accounts infinite, Oh wait myLot does. . Yes I had computer issues back in February where I use to write for a private publisher. Although I sent an email explaining the issue, they went ahead and deleted my account and to date I have not been able to get back on with them. This caused me to loose many clients I use to write for. But as far as other online sites, I usually either cancel and or allow them to delete me when I no longer want to frequent them. I can understand that at times we think okay let us keep it active just by logging in and sadly time flies so fast we forget at times.

I also know your mood when your account is deleted. But you say most are very rare because most people are online in your account at one time a day on email but the account at the sites usually will not be deleted because I have become who then have no reason to delete the even that you put in a long time.

Hello Daniel, Backup and storage costs money to companies when they offer a service for free, and many responders have already had email accounts deleted. I have three free email accounts with the TOS saying -- 3 different providers -- that accounts will be deleted if I don't log in at least once every 45 days. I agree that it is not automatic, but I will not try to test it voluntarily. Emails or cloud computing storage are important for all of us and it is always a bad day when you discover an account deleted, even if it is for inactivity.

I used to be a member of 20dollars to surf, but then the stupid owners of the site accused me of cheating, even though I had never even tried to do any cheating act ! It is stupid and that site is little serious. They are a big scam and I would suggest everyone to keep off that site ! It's a BIG scam !
