When he gets sick, I don't feel well

It's my grandson, just turned one year old last July. He has cough and cold and has been running a fever that can shoot my blood pressure way too high( to think that my blood pressure is normal). It just breaks my heart how a little boy, so helpless can feel so ill and medicines just can't make him better in a flash.
Tonight, I will not sleep. Have to check on him from time to time to make sure his fever doesn't reach 49 degrees centigrade again , like it did 3 hours ago.
He loves to giggle so much when he is not sick and I would love to see him giggle again, that way I will feel better.
Can you last the whole night not sleeping at all when you're baby is sick and is running a fever?

It feels really terrible when my child is sick. I'd rather be sick than him. I can't stand seeing him uncomfortable and can't sleep. I can't stand him crying but could not say what is painful.
All mothers would know the feeling of a mother when her child is sick and all grandmothers would feel just as you had when your grandson was sick. I also do feel the same when my grandkids are sick. I wish they will never get sick at all.

it happened to me and my wife for over three years. that was when our son zay still have sleep apnea. it's not all about when he is sick, with fever, etc. but those were the nights that we really could not sleep well as normal. we have to look at him while he sleeps because we can never tell when his breathing will stop. it's really hard for us parents to see our children especially babies when they are sick and they could do nothing but to cry.
