Okay here's something I can enlighten you with... Basically spam the internet with your stuff. I know spamming is bad, but some people actually do that. Other method is to become a youtube partner... The problem with that is, you'll need to submit a lot of applications! Like Nigahiga, Kevjumba, Happyslip, and a bunch of people out there on youtube who has over a million or so views on their videos...
You gotta make sure you have some kind of personality instead of just recording you and your friends doing something lame. Some people take things seriously online with making vids, and it's a lot of hard work to entertain the people. It may be funny to your family but to some people who are trolling, not so much.
But my word of advice, get sony vegas or Adobe premier... Then add up a bunch of friends. The crappy part bout youtube is that they no longer have that Youtube Streams anymore. So we can't really share vids with random people hoping to get 100 views on one vid in a day like I did in the past when I was called "Midnight Reject" - long story to that one. So just add up a bunch of people, eventually some of them if they like your stuff... They'll subscribe. :D The more subscribers, the better right? You got an audience.
Anyways, goodluck with video making and creating a targeting market plan... Know the audience and their interest - that would bring in some more viewers to your channel.
