How often should you buy a new car/truck?

Yesterday, my husband went truck shopping! Now, keep in mind... I was clenaing the house for his family to come for Thanksgiving. AND I have a 98 car and he has an 04 car. So.... I am thinking he is not the one who needs a new car. What do you think? Should you continually be buying new cars and starting new payments or should you pay something off and go a few years without a car payment?

I'm the kind of person that buys a car and drives it until I can't drive it anymore. I hte car payments. I am driving a 98 right now with 162,000 miles and I am hoping to make it to 200,000.

Wow! Thanks for that. I can be that type of person too, my 98 only has 70,000 though or somewhere near that.

Wow!!! Did not know about this, guess that's where he went to avoid all the dust.... Not sure what to say, obviously I really don't care too much, since I just downgraded my vehicle. But some people feel the need to have something new every few years. This is definitely one you both need to agree on though..... Good luck!

Yes, considering the medical weight I paid off! He says just looking, but scary! Scary! My car is way older too.

No. I think you're better off driving the ones you have until maintenance costs are outweighing the benefit of keeping them. In the meantime save your money so can pay as much cash as possible on your next vehicle. Is there a specific reason he's want a truck instead of his car? My opinion is stick with what you have and save your money.
