I Don't Like Getting Up Tomorrow For Work Anymore

The job is really turning out to be a routine. Doing the same thing over and over again can affect you on different levels. For one thing, if you're doing the same thing over and over again, that routine can be embedded within your subconscious mind, and can turn out to be a really big part of you when it's not supposed to be. This goes the same when I was still going to school. I got up early in the morning, washed my face, ate my breakfast, took a bath, fixed myself, and went to school. I can still remember feeling so sick about it.
So how's work/schooling? How many of you want to break out of an on-going routine because you've grown sick of it? Would you look for another job just to experience something new?

I never like routine. In my previous office jobs, I tried to break away from routine whenever I could. And when I couldn't, I might find myself looking at the clock and hoping that time would pass quickly.
I am definitely sick of routine work and that's why I am now looking for freelance jobs. I will definitely look for another job just to experience sth new!:)
When we no longer feel like waking up in the morning to go for work, that's a sign from our subconscious minds that it's time for a change. At least that's what I have read and that's what I believe.

Yep, that's definitely a subconscious thing. Everytime I promise myself I'll wake up early, I end up procrastinating if I do.

We definitely have a choice. You can get a new job since you're not satisfied with this one. I'm sure there are other companies that are willing to offer more for you since you're not a satisfied employee in your company. Do a job search and you'll find out other companies that are looking for employees and pays better than this one.

Yep, it's pretty hard to get a job these days. That's one of the reasons why I'm having second thoughts on applying for another job.

if i have the means or resources to go by while i look for another job, i will find another job. finding another job would entail you applying for a leave and that would mean lesser earnings. but if you have the funds, why not?
routine is frustrating. it cannot make you grow.
it is a good thing my job is not that routine. i mean, there are instances it goes routine but not continually routine. still, i feel tired of my job.
i guess familiarity breeds contempt, as always.

I guess so. Doing the same thing over and over again can really mess you up. You'll be thinking in circles and there's a big chance that that routine will be embedded in your daily life. I don't like that happening to me.

I know what you mean. I hate routines but what keeps me going if it's something that I love to do. For me, if there's no love and passion in anything you do, then it's not worth your time. Maybe you can change it somehow to your advantage.

I don't think I can change it to my advantage. This job just isn't for me. I can't imagine myself still working here after a year or so. I'll just be pursuing Media Arts or something to get a job I love to do. These are the moments when I envy digital artists. Their job is just so cool it doesn't sound like a job at all.

Well, actually you're very right about what you've said. I guess almost everybody feels the same way as you do. But I think there will always be a routine no matter what kind of work we are into. I resigned with my previous job because I don't feel excited to work there anymore plus the routine that I have to bear. I'm currently into a new company and there's still a routine but I don't mind the routine because I like the kind of work that I have. Even though I have this routine, everyday feels like a different day because I feel excited to work. Maybe it's also how we put excitement into our jobs so that everyday will be a new day and a new challenge. I think our work environment has also some effects in this. It actually adds fun when you have a good working environment and good colleagues.
Try first to find something that will motivate you to continue with your current job, and if it still doesn't work then maybe you could find something else that will make you experience something new - like what I did. :D

I'd like to punch one of my co-worker in the face, would that work as experiencing something new?

yes, its inevitable to have the same feeling for our work, and our schooling. it can always be routinary everywhere. it will be like that everywhere we go, actually, right?
i think what we can do is to make our day as great as we could be, even with the routine, even with all the things going on looking the same, etc. its already within us to make it different each time, to make our days and work exciting everytime we could.

Yeah, well I can't really get myself excited without any reason or else I'd look like a fool.

Hi Frontvisions,
I think if I started feeling that way and if it continued for very long that I would start keeping my eye out for another job. I have been at my job for many years and what I like about it is that while the job itself is routine, I get to interact with many different people. I felt more like how your feeling when I worked in an office. I did like my job but after a while, it did become pretty routine. I think I noticed how much I disliked "routine" when I was raising my kids. I hated the getting up early and pushing them to get ready for school, eat breakfast, out the door and then after school they could only play for a small time before we had to do homework, eat dinner, bathe etc. While some complained about summer break or school vacations, I looked forward to them. I don't like having my time all sucked up in "have-to's".

In my case, I'm starting to trash up my job inadvertently. My morale is getting considerably low at this point. I'm guessing I'll last maybe 3 or 4 months more. I'm persistent in some cases but for this one, I won't be lasting for a year.

That's great if you're enjoying it. I haven't been able to enjoy much free time especially this week. I only got one day off this week and it's not enough for me. I even planned on not going to work this mornin but I'm already here so, can't do anything about that now.

That's probably one of the reasons why I'm also feeling sick of this job already. I have to get up for work later and I'm still not sleeping because of procrastination, I guess.

I think most jobs are the same. Everyday is the same thing over and over again. I get up the days i have to go to work and do the same thing and then at work it is the same routine most every day unless one of the guys doesnt come into work then i have to go to one of the jobs and do some work as i was the man that was supossed to go there. I do like different things and while at work when my bosses arent there i can actually get alot more things done and usually do more things then when they are there.

Well, if it is easy for you to get another job, then maybe you can resign from your boring job.
But if not, you can start loving your job, and have it in yourself, that you got to love it because it's where you get the money to sustain your needs and wants.
Just be thankful that you are not one of those unemployed people, who wants a job for themselves too.

Forcing yourself on enjoying your job isn't fun at all. Come to think of it, forcing yourself on anything isn't fun at all. It won't be easy getting a new job but I'm determined because mainly of the boredom this one smacked on my face.

I'm trying to get entertained as much as I can but it's still not working for me. I guess this is why a lot of employees are protesting for a raise in this kind of industry.
