Do You?

Okay when you go the the grocery store and you are in the produce section where all the vegetables are and say you are going to buy some corn on the cob. Well sometimes the store will put a trash can next to it. And sometimes not because some people take the outside of the corn on the cob off first to check the corn and some will shred the whole thing off and leave it in the bin. And some people just take it home and don't do it til they get home. He he he L.O.L. Do you shred the corn in the store and leave it in the bin? Or do you use the trash can next to the bin? Or do you just take it and and wait until you are ready to cook it?

Wait.. first I want to say.. wow its been a year since you started this! but um um I love corn and to answer ur question.. The only time I shred the coin is when they have a trash can next to it which is usually when they go on sale but usually I wait till I get home.

I open it with my finger to see the corn inside (if it´s fresh as I want it) but leave the outside and don´t take it away until I use it as that helps it stay fresh a much longer time.

I have also seen trash cans in stores, when i was up north and was using someones elses house to cook i used the trash can in the store because i didnt want to make a mess at my friends house so i used the trash can in the store and that is the only time i did that and when im at home i will get the corn i need and bring it home and wait to take the outside of the corn off till im ready to cook it. All though im sure there are alot of people that might just take off the leaf part at the store instead of doing it at home and i understand why they do that because it really does get everywhere and make a mess at home and then some people probably live in an apartment and dont always feel like having to go to the dumpster to take there trash out and that will only give them more trash.

I open them a little at the store to make sure the corn is okay on the inside and then I do the rest at home.

I do not buy corn on the cob in the store. I live in cornland(almost literally the town about 15 miles away is cornland) Many of the teachers that I work with have family that farm and they are constantly bringing corn in and giving it away.

I prefer to buy the corn on the cob that has been partially chucked by the store and wrapped. I can see if the corn looks good and make a selection that way. I think chucking the corn in the store is okay. But if someone is going to do that they need to respect others and throw the husks away. Even if there isn't a garbage bin you can one. Best Wishes!

If I buy corn here I always have to buy 2 at the same time and they are wrapped already with the price sticked on it. So I have to take what they give me and see at home what is in it. Never had bad corn btw

hi jahernandezrivas good discussion. I have watched people do that and I do stand over the trash can but only pull back the husks enough to see the corn is free of black smut then put it in my shopping bag and into my cart.I dehusk it just before I cook it to keep it from drying out.Our store we paid by the ear not by weight so it does not matter whether you dehusk it there or at home.

It is plastic wrapped in the stores, so I buy from the street market instead. I only buy when it is cheap - like ten for one Euro. I look over the shoulders of other customers who are tearing them apart! If they look good generally, I'll buy without looking. They need to be covered to keep them fresh.

I only pull back the husk enough so I can see it but I don't remove it. I take it home and remove it at home. Yes I don't understand why people do this because it is not sold by the pound and or why people leave behind so much mess on the corn counter.
