Hey fellow MYLOTTERS...
Okay.. so as I have been recently posting of my curent situation, Barely any financial income.. looking for a place to live etc..
I was just wondering for those of us who have moved with a barely survivable income..how have you managed to furnish your homes? I have visited many charity shops, *as they can be pretty decent for prices and quality*.. however even though Im trying to budget literally everything it is still so hard to find even the basics to furnish a new home.. sofas, fridge, freezer etc..
I came across a website called freecycle.co.uk which is quite useful however it takes like forever to register with their groups, you have to wait on their approval etc..
So.. does anyone have any ideas?.. Any tips are MUCH appreciated.. Thanks Guys (",)

There is a first source for a person who is starting: family and friends. The older people have furniture that they don´t want anymore. Many are not in the best shape but they can be upholstered or you can even throw a nice piece od material over it. Bedtables and the like can be made with even cardboard and clip some material to hide it. I made lamps with nice bottles when I got married.

Hi marguicha..
Thanks for your response...
Much appreciated for your advice.. my family consists of literally my immediate family- so this will not work for me Im afraid.. although If any of my Mum friends give any of their furniture away she will always ask me *so I suppose there is a good source*..
I am quite the artsy crafty type of person.. so I do customise alot of the products I buy anyway.. so theres no problem there when altering the design of pieces of upholstery etc.. LOL..

I hope everything works allright for you. I live in another country and everywhere things are different. My old fridge went first to my eldest daughter´s house and then to a friend´s daughter´s. I don´t know where it is now because things change hands a lot here before being thrown away.

vivamir: Society is like this. One the one side you will find dumping even good sofas, tvs into dustbin and on the other hand there are others who cannot procure them. Solution lies in getting an employment which can get manageable salary.

Hi ravisivan..
Thanks for your response..
You are most definitely right! And dont get me wrong.. I will be gaining full time employment.. this is the first time in my whole life that I have not been working!! At the moment I am awaiting on my clearance checks to come back so that I am to start working.. otherwise til then Im slightly stranded in limbo.. which leaves me very limited options..

Are there any classified sites here like craigslist where people post various things they want to sell, buy, trade ect? That way you could find something decent perhaps outside of a thrift store. I've done freecycle and people on there are like vultures swarming around their computers 24/7 waiting for the next thing for them to grab up. I no longer belong to that group because things that were of interest to me were taken before I even saw the post. And I never posted on there as I don't like the idea of a stranger coming to my home.
