Has anybody watched a parade of lechon and participated in eating it afterwards? I haven’t yet myself.
It was shown on TV last Saturday, and I couldn’t help but salivate while watching it, that I have to eat my dinner in front of the TV.
And it was also shown that lechon have some variations like, Lechon con Pato ( stuffed with a whole dressed chicken) , Boneless Lechon with Seafood Paella (stuffed with seafood Paella and I forget the other one.
Gosh, I would one day watch a parade of lechon and get to taste those variations !
That I resolve to myself.

Parade of lechon, wow! a glutton's dream but a hypertensive person's nightmare . Sorry are those that are considered a glutton yet has hypertension since the they can only feast with their eyes but not with their mouths. I think I classify under the gluttons list, . So far I only see these kinds parade of foods on TV and have not witnessed one in real life. I think it's only for showing purposes since there are a lot of hungry mouths out there and it's impossible to feed all those visitors they have. Chances are the only people who will be eating those foods are the visitors and the invited guests and of course the politicians.

Lechons are mouth watering but in reality the it's taste is just skin deep. Skin deep in a sense that most people go for the crispy skins and not the meat. You take all the browny, crispy skin from a lechon and nobody's going to be interested in it anymore. I don't think the guests eating all those lechons in the parade will get LBM more likely they're be massaging their necks or head aches caused by increased blood pressure.

You are very corect ybong, by saying that it's a glutton dream but a hypertensive's nightmare!
Actually, like you, i am on the first description and my husband is on the second one.
But i guess, with all those many lechons paraded , the guests would surely have LBM eating them! And i think, most of the guests are gluttons who are hypertensives!

I've seen one long time ago and did enjoy the parade and the food after.
It's all delicious and tasty, but when you were there, you never knew what to try first and you will surely look for "tuyo/daing" the next day
I like the lechon skin while it's hot...yummy...now I am hungry my dear

Fiestas. It's a tradition in the Philippines, specially in the provinces.
We just have one at our hometown last August 29 & 30. It was an enjoyable one.

Wow, really jaiho.
I think , if i were in your shoes, i would taste them all , to see who tastes the best. I just wouldn't eat rice , but only have a coke, to take away the "umay" (too much feeling).
Yes, that's how we feel after a fiesta, to eat "tuyo/daing" the next day.

Hi SIMPLYD!
I have not watched a lechon parade nor have I participated in one. I don't like lechon much. I haven't tasted a very good lechon with the right crispiness of the skin. I have only tasted bad lechon. I do like the sauce, though.
But I can imagine how watching it have made you hungry. I have experienced that while watching cooking shows on tv. ^^ It also makes me eat my meals in front of the tv.
Oh yeah, I remember. There was one a good lechon I tasted, lechon de leche which was one of the props in our fiesta presentation and after the presentation, everybody, even the audience got to eat the lechon. It was delicious and the skin was okay. I don't know what's special about it but I think it came from Bicol. ^^

Lucky you for not liking lechon much. Me, that's the first thing that i will get in a buffet table if there's any.
Oh, i haven't tasted lechon de leche. It's actually a piglet that was made into lechon, so i guess the meat is so tender. I think , i just would like the skin of that, but not the meat.
Bicol makes good lechon, but i haven'ta tasted one , as good as that from Bacolod that tasted so delicious , really!

I also feel lucky that I don't like lechon that much. They say it's high in bad cholesterol. And many old people still eat them a lot even with their hypertension!!!

Yes, those old people would say, anyway at least we will die happy because we have eaten lechon, a delicious food.

Actually guys, i haven't watched a parade of lechon. It's just on TV that i have seen one and i envy them!
But i guess jocynewbiz, i know why you don't like to eat the lechon on parade. Is it because it was open to the dust and other pollutants in the air, while being paraded?
Oh, you can actually wipe the skin with a tissue and eat it. As to the meat, it's not exposed to the pollutants, being inside the lechon.

In Balayan Batangas, they have this Lechon Parade in celebration of the feast of St. John, their patron saint of the Roman Catholics.
The roast pigs are dressed according to the theme of participating 50 organization. A celebrated mass is held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Balayan Batangas
But if you will ask me to eat the Lechon on parade, i will not.

But i guess, you have seen it shown on TV? I guess, it's a very nice feeling to be able to taste all the lechons paraded. Though, having been paraded, maybe it is already dusty.
But what the heck, we can wipe the top skin with a tissue before eating it.
Lechon, it's really a delicious food.

i have not personally seen a parade of lechon, only on tv shows and news reports.
i also want to see it personally. though in some places here, they celebrate a feast of lechon but i never heard there were parades. i think they only showcase lechon being displayed on the streets. now i am salivating with lechon but still worries about the bad effect to our bodies.

Same with me friend, i only see them on TV. At least , we got to see one on TV.
My friend don't worry about the cholesterol. You can take a pill for cholesterol after that.
Me, when i eat lechon i scrape the fat under the crispy skin before putting it into my mouth. As to the meat, i take away the fat first and just eat the lean parts. But i do just eat in moderation.

I haven't really watched a live parade of lechon but I've seen one on TV. If I'd have the chance to participate of course I'd be very glad to participate in eating all those kinds of lechon except pig because I don't eat pork. But chicken and pato of course I'd be very happy to eat them.

I watched in television before. But I haven't participated in it. It would be nice if I can join because I love lechon. But I must be careful eating loads of lechon since I don't want to have a high blood pressure.

Yes, i think it would be nice to have participated in it . . . the eating part.
I think, it would be so nice having to have a taste of all the lechons paraded. But you are correct, we have to watch our cholesterol / blood pressure level though.

I have not seen or been to a lechon parade but I had been to Balayan, Batangas(famous for the lechon festival) years ago when I drove from the town of Tui. Besides lechon, the town is also famous for it's "bagoong"(fish paste)that they produce in large and very old earthen jars.
I love lechon although I am quite careful now when eating , my favorite is the crisp skin in the nape and the head part plus the um..home made liver sauce and hot rice

It was shown on TV lately , that parade of lechon. I can't help salivating.
But like you said, i too like the crispy skin, even without the liver sauce. For the meat part, i need the liver sauce though. I don't need rice though when i eat lechon, just a bottle of coke.

I havent too, but I would really love to see a parade of lechon! Haha!:)
I was able to see that TV show and my mouth was watering for the lechon stuffed w/ seafood paella. I think Filipinos are very good in reinventing something out of the common food. I love lechon, though I prefer Cebu lechon because it's very tasty. And of course do not forget to eat in moderation, :)

AT least we get to see them on TV, staria!
I heard that Cebu lechon also tastes very good. And yes, that lechon with seafood paella seemed so delicious too.
Moderation ? Hmm, i think that's hard to do, specially when the skin is so crispy.

I live in La Loma area so whenever there's lechon parade, I can easily see it :D i'm not much of a lechon lover but I like lechon de leche :D It's amusing to see lechons in Darna, Zorro, Capt. Barbell costumes and see people take of the costume and consume the lechons :P I haven't been to a Lechon Parade originating from the province though.
