Why do we care what others think of us?

We are social creatures and live in a society, and society is essential for the individual psyche. Society rejects us or we accept based on their form opinions about us. If society has negative views about us, so will be our society's behavior: Negative. But if the society has a good opinion about us, we will be more readily accepted among them, and we obtain certain benefits. Why think of others, or society affects us directly, whatever is represented, that think, that vision of the whole society on us as individuals? Why do we care what others think of us?

Everyone has at least a slight inferiority complex. We like to be validated. Throughout most of man's history, he lived in a close knit community. As man moved out of this closeness, he still needed, but had to looked to more distant friendships to get it. So, validation has to come from colleagues and others around him. When he is rejected, it difficult to take because he does not have the same close knit "family~tribe" community that is deeply ingrained into our ancient subconscious.

From my point of view, no matter what others think about you but you feel good about yourself. Counts only those who care really think of you. Tastes, there is discussed. Behavior matters a lot. You need to be sociable, you make nice, and respected in society, to follow your word. But this requires education, common sense, to know the art of conversation and manners code. Thanks for response.

If we care others think they will also care us. I think this is a good nature for human being. If we are now living in a society we should care of others think.

We are social beings and we can not ignore the opinions of others about us. Nor should break free of labels. Whether we like it or not, these labels define us as individuals ... they appeal to some of the new or reject them. We in society are nothing but an accumulation of labeling, the perceptions of those around on our being. Without labels we would not be anything other than some dull packaging, even if they hide a "product" extraordinary, would remain forgotten on the shelves. Thanks for response.

I am a Psychology student, and because of that I know that one of the most important things about being a human being is the fact that you are accepted by everyone else who you know. If you are not accepted by somebody for some reason, this can lead to you wondering why you are not being accepted and also will lead to you wanted to change the way that you behave in order to be accepted by that person in the end. It is always safer to have people as friends than enemies, and I think that one of the main reasons that people like to be accepted is probably to do with this fact.

You know, I think that I stopped caring what other people thought of me years ago. I mean, it leads down a slippery slope when you try and satisfy other people except for yourself. You are really not going to find that there are going to be something that is going to put you in a good place in life. I think that you tend to get tricked into doing things that are not in your best interests. Getting tricked into things that you are not comfortable with doing. You know all of these people are not living my life. I am the one that is living my life. Therefore, I am the one who is going to have the final say of everything that I do in life. I would rather people hate me for someone who I am than adore me for someone that I am not. That is really something that a lot of people just don't get. Trying to fit into society's standards can leave you little room to move and you'll get cramped.

I agrre with you, especially with "all of these people are not living my life".I already have a consolidated view and attitude towards my own person. Since I know well, that someone criticizes me at some point, does not mean that tells me something new, that is, I why should I mind. I know I am a person uncomfortable for many and I accepted the idea. I never tried to please everyone. Again, many say that they care only view their loved ones, and of the foreigners do not care. The question is: why allow us to close more, and to those foreigners try to create a good impression? It's good when you think about us, do not rely heavily on the opinions of others. When we are upright and not as windy. But we must be careful not to fall into another trap, believing that they are extraordinarily beautiful and smart and that others claim the opposite, makes us think they are just jealous. Thanks for response.

A lot of people think that if society hates me then as a person I am a failure. But if you walk into a job for example and have flaws but you are confident, you can still get a job. I believe society is the same way. some people may be unhappy with their lives or be so used to being held to a higher standard they might not even realize they are doing it to other people. We all care what others think because its natural and we got feelings even when they are hidden where no one can find them.

I'm sure no one is perfect, but every day we should I think highly of us. We are beautiful, people and last but not least unique. You should appreciate this. Love us as much and without defects. Other people's opinions matter to everyone, but in different proportions and different situations, words spoken by someone may have an effect on us. The important thing is to put in balance opinions, pro and against us, because sometimes there a little truth in everything. It is important to find balance in what was said about us. Thanks for response.

As you said, we are social creatures, so the opinion of the people about us is important because it represents what the society thinks about us. I don't know if I was clear, but I will try to explain: the opinion of your friends about you represent what the society thinks about you, even if we consider only the society where you live. No one wants to be a negative part of the society, so that is my theory why the others opinion are so important to us. Even the people who say that they don't care with the others opinion, actually they care, but they are trying to shock the society with a different way of live.

People depend on people, and counts as displayed in our society for the way we label after apparent .. even if we know how we really that does not mean only that matter, in our view, matters and what they think others about us. Do not you inquire, is ego and pride, the worst weapons for they do not help you move on, on the contrary lose with these weapons, handles them if you do not know. It is good to listen to and advice, even if we perceive as we want. It is nice to listen and not talk to you alone. In conclusion, it is important to learn from all, how to be .. Thanks for response.

I try not to put the soul evils of others, but I sure hurt heavy words, they stick a dagger in my heart - metaphorically speaking ... sure wisdom should prevail and not let yourself shot down, the offensive words, which unfortunately - remain. I tried to respect life and youngest child of any neighbor, because I respect so primarily on me. Even if I had made ??a remark to someone, I tried to put myself in that person's place, and we used diplomacy, avoiding offensive words, and know that paid off ... Thanks for response.
