Did you go on any school trips in elementary school or in high school? Where did you go and how was the trip?
In the 7th grade I went on a school trip to a Danish island called Bornholm. On Bornholm there is a famous place called Hammershus. It used to be a castle, but now it is a ruin. When we got there our teachers said: "We want you to walk around and look at the ruin. In the different parts of the ruin you will find a lot of information about the old castle and we want you to read everything carefully, because when we get back to the hostel you will get a test"
My classmates and I went walked around in area and I still remember how carefully we studied everything and memorized the facts. When we got back to the bus our teachers laughed and said: "There isn't going to be a test, we just wanted to make sure that you read everything" My classmates and I were angry when we discovered the truth, but at least we got to know the history of that castle really well
In the 9th grade we went to London. A lot of Danish students visit London in the 9th grade, it is very popular destination. We visited all the famous sights and sneaked into a pub one night. Our teacher was very angry when he found out.
In the 10th grade we went to Copenhagen for a few days. We visited the Planatarium and the "Experimentarium" (a science museum where we were allowed to touch everything and make small experiments). We also visited some of the famous buildings in Copenhagen like the Round tower and "Boersen"

We had a field trip or a school trip before. We had two trips when I was in high school. On our first trip, we went to the northern part of our country. But not so far away -a 6 hour or 7-hour travel time. We encountered in that place mostly historical facts. That place has this aura of an old setting -the houses and the vehicles. The next academic year, we again had a trip. This time, to the opposite direction but with a more or less the same travel time. I think that experience if much more exciting than the first one. We went to an eco-park. Before going home, we took our dinner in a mall and had the rest of the time roaming around the mall -until the closing time.

The historical place that you visited with your class sounds interesting to me. As an adult I am interested in history, but I not sure that I would have found it interesting when I was in high school I have never been to an eco-park. Which things did you do there?

We have enjoyed the historical place because we had to chance to roam around the place and had a bonding moments with my friends. Its not very fun in that place but it is surely is a beautiful place. As far as I can remember, the eco-park is a large place. There are lots of greens like plants. Really environmental. We had a tour around the place and we saw green stuffs. It is a refreshing experience. We also a water dam.

I love taking educational trips for school even when I was still a child. It used to make me look forward to learning new things. My mom is an educator so even during summers we take a family trip and bond while we go to places as Planetarium and get to see the galaxy through this giant telescope and ceiling that reflects the planets and constellations above us. I love taking the double deck bus and watch as the places pass us by. I learn so much from taking that kind of trips not just about culture but about people and technology or lack of it.

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the picnic with your classmates. Your response made me think about a school trip that I went on many years ago. We visited a village full of old houses. It was a kind of museum, but it was different from other museums in my town because we were able to walk around inside the old houses and there the people who had dressed up as people from the past and there were many animals etc. We had lunch outside on the grass, it was very nice.

During my school days we did not have trips like what you had but we had gone to many picnics which was more fun oriented than anything else. Our trips were mostly in and around our city of Bombay and none outside. However when i joined architectural college a trip was organized to the city of Aurangabad which had palaces of the olden Muslim rulers of India. It also had the world famous heritage Buddhist site of Ellora and Ajanta where there are rockcut caves of Buddhist architecture and wall painted frescoes hundreds of years old. There also were rock cut sculptures carved from an entire rocky mountain with some of the finest carvings. These are historical places of India. then i also went for a college trip to Mt Abu in the state of Rajasthan where there is the famous marble cave carvings of the Jain community which again are hundreds of years old.You will see some of the most exquisite marble carvings ever done in these caves. After this our college had organized a trip to the capital New Delhi, Agra where the famous Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of the world is situated along with the ancient Fatehpur Sikri, which was once the capital of the Mughal ruler Akbar the Great of India. From there we went to Chandigarh which is the city designed by the world famous French architect Le Corbusier along with its govt buildings. From there we went to the hill station of Shimla which is over 700ft above sea level from where you get a glimpse of the mighty Himalayan range of mountains.

Thanks for your detailed descriptions of the places that you visited. It is very interesting for me to read about it, because I am very interested in your country and it is one of my big dreams to visit India one day. Taj Mahal is one of the places that I really hope to visit, but the other places also sound interesting.
By the way, do you remember the other discussion that I started where you recommended the book "Autobiography of a yogi" I discovered that it has been translated to Danish and I found a copy at my local library. I look forward to reading it.

It sounds like you visited many different places with your school. When I was in elementary school we also went on some short field trips, and I remember visits to a botanical garden, an open air village etc, but we never had any field trips in high school.

We had a lot of school trips back when I was in Grade School and High school. One memorable trip is our trip to the Coca-cola factory. We saw the vast amounts of coca-cola that were made that day. I would always remember that trip because we had a drink all you can after our tour in the factory. If I remember, I think I drank about 8 bottles of coca-cola.

It is a pity that my classmates and I never got the chance to visit a place like that. I am sure that we would have enjoyed it They actually made soft drinks in the city where I grew up, but our teachers never arranged a field trip there. We had other kinds of field trips instead. One day we visited an open air village with lots of old houses and we had a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. I was many years ago, but it is one of the field trips that I still remember.

In my school days there would be one study tour every year. All those journeys are nostalgic, now to remember. In a bus a group of students with a few teachers and parents, we go to places with historical or scientific importance. All sights were of novelty to me.Still I go to visit places but not with the thrill in childhood but to escape from boredom

I also get a little nostalgic when I think about some of those trips. When I was about 7 years old, my class and my teachers spent one week in a historical village that was supposed to look to like a village from the iron age. I remember that I worked in a weavery and that we collected stinging nettles and cooked stinging neetle soup over an open fire. It was a lot of fun to try something so different and I will always remember the experience.

At Primary school we went to the Commonwealth Institute in London. I think that it was very interesting and loving other countries it very much appealed to me. In my first year at secondary school we went on a day trip to France. My friend and I went to a shop and didn't get back in time to meet our group. Luckily we found another group and tagged along with them until we found our own group again. It was funny to have drinks in a cafe. When I was doing Religious Education at school we went to visit a synagog in North London and it was fascinating.

It sounds like you have had the chance to see some interesting places. A day trip to France sounds lovely. It is good to hear that you managed to get back to your group again. Some of my friends and I experienced the same thing on Bornholm. We didn't get back in time and we couldn't find the others. That was a little scary because we didn't knew where to look for them and we didn'bt have cellhones at that time. We walked around a while and fortuneately we found the others before we had to go back to the hostel.

I live in the UK, and have been on trips to France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland and America with my school. It was a private school, so I am sure that there were more opportunities for us than there might have been if we had gone to any other school in the area. The thing is, I was glad that I'd done that, because it means that even if I never get to travel anywhere ever again I can say that I took the plunge when I was younger and went to a lot of different places to see how things work over there. My younger brother is getting those chances now and I know that he is enjoying them just as much as I did when I was his age.

I think it is great that you have had the chance to see so many different places with your school. You and your brother are very lucky I also went to private school, but in Denmark the students from the private schools "only" have one school trip abroad just like the students from the public schools. The trip takes place in the 9th grade and in most cases the students visit London, but it is possible to choose another destination if everyone agrees. My friend and her classmates did that and they went to Vienna and Budapest instead of London.

I can still remember my first field trip in elementary school. It was first grade and we went to a dairy farm to see how milk was made. We also went to a chicken farm. i had never see baby chicks before that. It was such a lot of fun. schools don't see to do those kinds of field trips for the children as much anymore. Now all they want to do is go to amusement parks and ball games.

I also went on a field trip to a farm in elementary school. I think it was in the first grade or the second grade. I grew up in a big city and it was interesting for me and my classmates to visit a farm, because none of us lived in the countryside and everything was new to us. The farmer that we visited was very nice, he showed us around and we saw all of the animals and the other parts of the farm. Before we left he let us play in the barn. We jumped around in the hay and had a lot of fun.

We didn't have any trips in high school either. I think it is pity that we didn't have the chance to visit any places outside the school in high school, but at least I went on some school trips in elementary school.

The memories that come out in my mind when I think of school trips are full of black spots. We use to split in two groups of people. The ones making all kind of trouble all the time and the good ones. I was in the group drinking and destroying property. Oh, well...those were the days.

At my school there was were two groups of people, too. I usually belonged to the the good group except when we went to London and sneaked into the pubs in the evenings. Our teacher was furious when he found out and he wanted to send us home.

That must be an interesting place to visit I went to Copenhagen in the 10th grade. We were about 60 students and we had a great time. We visited many of the famous places in Copenhagen, and it was interesting to see some of the places that we had only heard about.
