Hi Mylotters, I love to cook, but it is only sometimes that I am in full form and want to cook something very special for my family. And I had this craving to cook last Friday when I was at home. I made vegetable manchurian and roti, what was special about the roti or chapathi is that I add spinach to it to make it look green and maybe can be named as harah barah chapathi. For the vegetable manchurian I mixed purple cabbage and some other colourful vegetabale to make it a ball and didnt deep fry it but did a pan-fry to it using a little more oil but less than what we need for deep fry. Then came the gravy I used some more colourful vegetables to make it a thick gravy and dipped the balls only while serving. After I tasted it I felt something was missing in the manchurian and could'nt quite point it out. But you know what my whole family loved it, its usually very rare. Whenever I experiment something new the feedback is usually mixed, I will like it but some of my family members will not. Like the other day I made tofu burger and ended up eating it myself as nobody wanted it. But this time it was different, I didnt like it much but all the others loved it, so it was worth the effort that's the only thing I can say.... What about you mylotters, got anything to share about your culinary skills...

I'm not the best of cooks, but I do like to bake. I love rummaging through the kitchen to see what might go well together.

Hi, kkanaka. That is how it can be sometimes. You will like your food, but no one else will. You may not like the food that you have prepared, but others will. It is like this at times. I am glad that you have enjoyed making vegetable manchurian. I have never heard of this type of recipe before, but it sounds very delicious. Enjoy!

Thanks cream97, sometimes you dont know how the dish is going to turn out after you add all the ingredients, so its really trial and error for cooking also.

I have not tried vegetable manchuria and I will try it. I think it is good to have vegetable curry with chapathi. I like gopimanchuri very much and loves to take it with parotta. Parotta is one of my favorite food. I think it is good to cook one's own recipes. I have no recipe right now, but I will try to experiment with some dishes in the future.

I also like gobi manchurian, its a very nice side-dish for parota or naan or even poori. My husband doesnt like it much, so I dont cook that often. Yesterday I tried rava idli, all loved it, even my daughter liked it very much.
