we have cats in our house - sometimes they are funny and keep me far from lonely. but there are times that i hate them. It is true that cats give us comfort?

I don't like cats. they are smelly, they crap just about everywhere in the house. They steal my food. The only good thing those cats can do is killing rats. But then again, there is one cat in our neighborhood that is afraid of rats, imagine a cat afraid of a little rat, what a stoopid cat. sheesh.

If a cat's smelly, there's a problem. If it's crapping in the house, there's a problem. If it's stealing your food, there's a problem. Sounds like the cat's unhappy (not being treated right, since you hate them?). Cats are generally clean and friendly - ours isn't in the slightest bit smelly, poops in her litter tray and eats what she's given.

I agree cats are always clean because they are always cleaning themselves. They only poop in areas designated for that with sand or they go outside. As for stealing food, probably they do that if they are not fed. From my experience with cats the only disadvantage I think the have is when they are young they tend to scratch furniture and other items in the house because they are playful like that.

I think the main benefit of having a cat is that they are little maintenance. Basically all you need to do is feed them and play with them periodically. They clean themselves by themselves which is a very big plus. Also they handle mice.

Cat - Sleeping Cat
Well I think pets can really give comfort whether it be cat or dog or what provided it is not scary exotic pets. So if your pet is a cat then it will somehow give you comfort depending on how you treat this pet. I don't have a cat so I don't really know what benefit a cat could give its master except it could drive away rats. Now I am glad there are no rats in my home so for now I think I need not have rats in my house for I am not really fond of them.

Cat - Cat and toy is alike in some ways
May I share with you this cat which is a big happiness to his owner who is a friend of mine. So this is one example of how beneficial a pet cat is. The cat is almost like a friend to her and she considers it one of her playmates as well. She even take pictures of the cat and enjoys collecting photos of him. Look!

Cats - Allergy giver
Well to those who are cat lovers I know they are comforted and really having fun with having cats as pet. But not me. I find no benefit in keeping cats at home. They can cause allergy that leads to asthma based on my childhood experience so I never really entertain even the idea of having cats in my home, not even in my yard. I am so allergic with cats.

The "cats give us comfort" thing comes from scientific research which shows that stroking any domestic pet (cat, dog, rabbit, ferret or whatever) has a calming effect. I believe it reduces blood pressure and a bunch of other stuff. A cat's purr also has a calming effect (in a similar way to a dog's tail-wagging giving a morale boost). That's all off the top of my head from memory, not actual scientific conclusions. I'm sure you could find reference info out there on the web.

I love cats and I enjoy their presence. Sadly I can't have cat at the moment. Maybe in the future. My mother got 2 cats. They are lovely creatures. Thanks to them there is no possibility of any other creatures like spiders or other bugs being at home, because they are hunters. One of those cats is orange and one is grey. Both of them are females. They keeps my mother company and she doesn't feel lonely thanks to them. I remember one day when I visited my mother in my native country, they opened kitchen unit and they destroyed paper bags with flour and sugar. You can imagine how the kitchen looked like. Both are rascals but I love them so much.

Cats are for rats and even snakes. Our can do that kind of things. They catch rats and even small snakes that enters in our premises. But it is very often very intelligent creature in stealing foods in our kitchen. It is a very big problem in our home. Even we feed them they also do some side dish in our kitchen. That is the problem and good things I know about cats.

wrether or not cats give us comfort as with any animals just depends on wrether or not you are comfortable around cats or not cats are good because they keep humans company but they are also independant enough to not need the attention dogs and other animals need cats are so curious that they are fun to watch and entertain unlike dogs cats do not need to be potty trained they are naturally wired to use the batheroom in a litter box cats are versitle they can be kept in an apartment or a large house

I love cats. I used to love dogs instead of cats. But now that I have cats, I love them better. They are like babies, they are really cute. :) I don't have problem with my cat. She doesn't smell, unlike the comment of the other person here. She poops in the right place, and I bathe my cat twice a month. She gives life to my house. She is really sweet, and she makes me feel appreciated. She lifts my mood whenever I feel down. :)
