I'm very concerned about our Language today. I would really love to see the way how young people write in the next 25 years or so write. All I see these days is people too busy to write out a word and writing lol, dwl, kmt, and so many others. When i see some of them,i don't even know what they mean. So the next 25 years from now, will the short writing be more popular are decrease?

That could be...maybe a new type of language. I know what you mean. Sometimes I really don't know what they are trying to say...hopefully the schools won't let us or them down.

Some times id on't even know what people write, because it's like a code.People are using it every day,and it's the young people who are using mostly now a days. So i was wondering a few years from now if it would popular, because for people like who don't know what most of them mean they would have school that we will have to take courses to learn the Enlglish codes. People are getting lazy, when it comes to typing.

This is an interesting question. I agree with you all these short words mean nothing to me, I need a dictionary to explain them to me.

Do you see a short hand dictionary in the making?Because people are using these codes to communicate, and most people like my self don't know what most of them means. The young people of today are using them more, and a few years from now i think its going to popular. But it's not every body id going to use it,because a lot of people rather the entire words written out so that they know the exact words.

I agree with you on this. The short hand thing is really something which irritates me a lot. And also sometimes I can see a lot of grammatical mistakes when people type (specially in chat). Although I agree with the trend that communication is the most important thing, but still I feel that we need to continue using the normal method of typing. It will hardly make any difference to type the complete word. And with so much exposure to computer, we can see that people now a days have a nice typing speed. So, we don't save a huge amount of time usng those shrt frms (:P)

It's irritates me too ,when i don't understand it and i have to ask the person what are you trying to say. Yes their are a lot of grammatical error type in short hand, but i understand the normal writing more. And now a days it the teen that are using the short hand writing,so am concern about what the future writing will be like. It's not every body know what it means, and i hope some where down the line people come back to their sense and just type and write normal.

It will be very interesting to see that's for sure. The only one I use regularly is the lol, to usually show I'm not serious about something I have typed, or I thought what they said was funny. I rarely use anything else, maybe every once in awhile IMHO OR IMO, but its very rare.

But if i get a joke i will type lol, slang are short hand writing will be very popular yeas to come.Because people are getting lazy to type.

I like to see normal writing by hand and it should have long words not shorted words. It makes for easy reading and total understanding. Young people today use computers and don't do hand writing very often. It makes poor spelling I have noticed. I am a primary school teacher and so I see lots of hand writing. I hope in 25 years short handwriting will no longer be around. Hopefully it will decrease.

Years from now i would like to see what the language is like then.o hope it will decrease too.

Yes you are right it is certainly going to be interesting to see. With the dictionary adding so much urban and slang it certainly will be thought of as being acceptable. The only one I use is LOL but that is only when I am trying to be funny. I don't know any other I care to use and tend to write them all out. Main reason why I don't like texting is that we are limited with characters and I prefer to write out the words and of course we round out of room. So I prefer to call the person if it involves more then one go.

If the short writing is so popular now, a short dictionary can't be too far.But i know a few of them but,I only using when am using the messenger. I only text ,when am just saying hello are good morning.Other wise i just call, because the phone you have a certain amount of character to use up when texting,so it best to call the person and talk.

Honestly, I am with you. I am 24 years old but people around my age use slang / short hand that I don't understand. Smh, lls, etc, I don't get what those things mean. I only use lol, roflmao, lmao... things that are common. If I am WRITING the only thing I abbreviate is food, but when I'm typing almost everything is typed out. Texting, I might spell it differently so that I can write it shorter but its' still understandable.

The teenagers of today , use the slang more. Some times i get a text message on my mobile, and i don't know what it said because it in short hand writing. Most of them i understand like the i mention, and a few that you mention as well.people are using these short hands daily,so maybe a few years are so ....short hand will be more popular. I love to type out my words, but the only one i use most is when am talking on messenger i use the LOL. But each day their is a new short word, some are understandable while some are not.

There was a post on here afew months ago where schools may stop teaching cursive writing. I see people on here writing in such gibberish that it is weird to try to understand it. Abreviations and no puncuation at all. I have always tried to use good english and it is very frustrating to see this change.

Before, it used to be that only technical/computer wizards used acronyms when talking. I guess since in this day and age a lot of people are using computers I think they adapted it as well. As for the shorthand way, it started with SMS or texting wherein you had to compress what you're saying to 190 characters, so people had to think of ways to shorten what they were saying

Unfortunately, the beauty of English is being sacrificed for convenience. I fancy myself to be a writer. I love language - and I love how many word choices the English language offers. It is expansive and offers so many options construction wise. The short hand the texters and IMer's use drives me insane. I am afraid that in the coming years people will have far smaller vocabularies. I am also not looking forward to having 2 spel in tat horrbl srthand. However there is hope: as long as the colleges remain strict on writing standards, maybe the proper way will not be forgotten. Despite all that, I am guilty of excessive shorthand when I text. I suppose I believe that shorthand is ok as long is it is limited to informal communication like texting or instant messaging. However the moment colleges or the publishing industry start accepting shorthand as fine in formal writing, than we have a problem.

As per my views. In today's world we do not have time to waste, so in the coming years this way of writing would be more popular. And its not really a bad thing as to save our time we can do anything which we like. We can easily learn the meanings of these short hand words. So I'd like to comment in the favor of short writing.
