What do your children eat for snacks in school?

In the school where my children go they are not allowed to eat any kind of junk food. They cannot bring chips or candies most especially chocolates. They do have a sweet day which is every Wednesday but they still could not bring chocolates. The school encourages us to let our children eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. So most of the time they would bring fruits for their snacks. They love to eat banana, ripe or boiled, apple, orange and mangoes. They would also bring sandwiches with less mayo and with veggies on it. Every sweet day, they can bring some oatmeal cookies or other native delicacies that we have here. There are times that I would make those delicacies myself to make sure that the sugar used was organic. They do not bring juice which is not natural either. Juices should be fresh like Calamansi or Buko to lessen the possibility of having those chemicals from foiled juices. For kindergarten, their teacher would make them fresh tea everyday.
What kind of snacks do you prepare of your kids?

First of all, I don't think that junk foods should be banned from schools. I think it's up to the parents to allow their children to have junk foods or not and it shouldn't be up to the schools. The more people use food as "treats", the more children will want to consume those foods. If I was in this situation, I think that things such as boxes of dried fruit are lovely, as they're quite tasty and are not classed as junk food. They would also be able to give children the energy that they need to get through the rest of their day at school.

Oh I didn't mention on my post that my children go to a Waldorf School here in the Philippines. And as one of the philosophies of the school is to be back to basics even with nutrition. Eating organic food is one of them that is why junk food are banned in school. Parents who usually send their kids to Waldorf are also aware of the philosophy. Another thing is also eliminating watching of TV. Well that's another topic. And these practices are common to all Waldorf schools in the world. As you have mentioned dried fruits I think that is a great idea. There are some dried mangoes here and my kids love them too. Hmmm I should purchase those for their snacks next time. Thanks for the suggestion.
