Is myLot a forum or a social networking site?

Would you describe myLot as a forum or as a social networking website? In a forum, one simply posts on threads, which is what we do on myLot only with a little bit more sophistication. This is the core of myLot. However, there are also features like groups, friends and private messages as well as customizable profiles, so the case could be made that myLot is a social networking site.
What do you think? Which label best describes myLot and its function? Is myLot a social networking site or a forum? :)

It is in-between. The ability to message and choose friends make it a social networking site but the ability to write and answer posts make it a forum and even that overlaps, as in the forum one can talk to someone and form an online friendship as they have shared problems and shared experiences. It depends on where you take it. Okay lets call my lot a social forum or a social networking forum. Does that work fro everybody/

We sure do. How about calling it a social forum? That is all I can think of since I am not a morning person. I think a social problem solving forum goes a little too far since it is not just for solving problems.

myLot is a discussion site. 
It's all about discussing topics of interest and making friends! Also, as many may already know, you can earn money from myLot... However that is more of a "bonus". It's not all about the money.

I agree with mylot is discussion site but both social networking and forum because we can start here our question and respond on others queries so we can say mylot is forum as well as social networking and discussion site...

. You see, it depends upon the users whether they wish to use it as a forum or a social networking site, where they connect with others, through other modes of communication. Some of the users are very strict and they restrict themselves to 'discussions' only and do not indulge in any other activity e.g. sending or responding to PMs. These kind of users are mainly concerned with their earnings and just be there on mylot for earning and earning only, they perhaps do not want to have any relations with other mylotters.

Mylot offers ample opportunity to users for using the site for participating in discussions, for writing blogs or performing new tasks and exchanging PMs. I think we should use the site to the fullest and obtain maximum benefit out of it.

You are the first one to bring that up - that it is the individual myLotter who makes myLot a forum or a social network. MyLot offers the functions for both by the choices of the users make myLot more like one or the other. I guess all the people that have answered so far use it for both and thus see it as both. Very insightful on your part! :)

I would not describe Mylot as either a social networking site or a forum. One is a social site to meet people and the other is usually discussing one subject. I think Mylot is a discussion group. It is a group of people coming together to discuss different topics. Happy Mylotting.

for me, mylot is a not a forum, but a discussion site, and a social networking site.
many web like this web too, but not paying us. so, this is why i use mylot, cause i can discuss something with other mylotter, get a new friend from the discussion, and get earning.

oh yes, there is yes. but it has been closed (maybe). it is yuwie. it a social network that we can earn. and a bizzoper. but bizzoper hard to us to earn money from it, cause it like a MLM.
mylot is best site cause we can earn easy, find new friend and share our knowledge. that make mylot still exist till this day. and if i not wrong, i ever seem mylot before facebook created.

I think MyLot is mainly a forum, an entertaining forum. You can enjoy it posting your comments and learn about the opinion of the other members. Also MyLot have features like as a networking site –as you have mentioned it. Then I would say it is a mix of both but it is more a forum.

It's a forum because you can just log in and post and leave. You don't have to have friends Or even have a personal picture for your profile! You can say no to All friends requests And have no interests. With a social network can you do this? I don't know. I loathe the idea of Facebook so I am not there.

I'm not on Facebook either, ironically though my father is. From what I can tell, it is just overload socializing with people you know. It's not a forum where movement is free and people talk to all other people. You don't per se need a real picture of you, but it is highly recommended.
MyLot is simplified. We talk to our friends and such but we also have the opportunity to interact with a wider range of people. There is no obligation to spend hours on myLot either. It doesn't get tiresome like Facebook and its games.

Technically, it's a discussion/forums page (which makes you earn as well). But as you go along, you will realize that it's almost as good as a social site except that you interact with lots of people who are not necessarily related or connected to you personally.

myLot is a complete package. One gets to interact with users who come from different parts of the globe and this interaction helps one to learn and share. It also gives one an opportunity to get to know users who one would like to make friends with and they could even turn out to be real friends And in the process of all this one earns. You make friends you earn, you learn you earn!

I don't know but to me mylot feels like a forum. Coz we start discussions and like in the forum we get responses and comments and stuffs. And we do also start discussions with things like what's bothering us, or of something we don't know but would like to know, or ask other's opinions, just like in the forums. Just my view.

Mylot is both, why? because we are not just discussing issues and interesting topics we sometimes chat during our discussions, and I feel a friendliness and a sense of community much similar to facebook and myspace so I feel this site falls in the same category as those sites we accept friends request, we chat with each other in the same way we do on those sort of sites so in my opinion mylot not just a forum site, sure it's a forum but there is much more to mylot then that.

In my opinion, myLot is a discussion site. So it has closer definition with forum.
I am not quite sure to call myLot as social network sites. Well, in my opinion, a site would be called as a social network site if we can freely share our thought and situation around us (even a little spamming one! :P), and get interact with friends easily. Well, maybe I also can say myLot as "limited" social networking site, then

Its not a forum but its a discussion combined social network where peoples get united all over the world.
But in no places people earn in a social network sites for their discussion and responses. I too had more friends here from all
