I really recommend you to eat and drink a pomegranate.
This fruit has many health benefits : it contains 15% vitamin B5 for adults , It contains many antioxidants that prevent damage for our buddy cells.
I take the seeds out of the pomegranate , put them in the juice maker , and make a strong red juice of them , leaving all the hard and dry parts back in the filter.
I can really say it gave me a lot of energy , staying awake most of the day , being happy and smiling.
most of the people just cut this fruit in half and squeez it with its peel. The peel is very very bitter so that's why I make the juice only from the seeds.
If you want some information about this fruit , look at youtube , type "pomegranate"
and you will see how you can use this tasty fruit , how to take the seeds out. Peel it inder water , in a bowl. To your health , mylotters.

We have pomegranates in our country and, with quince, it was the fruit I used to take to school often for a snack. When we were children, we opended it (partially done by our parents as the outside is hard) and cut it in pieces. We took the small red red beauties by the mouthfull, squeezed them inside our mouths and spit the seeds into our hand and to the wastebasket. There is also a thick juice you can buy at the super here that you drink with wayer and plenty of ice. It come with sugar so you don´t have to add it.
Why is it that you peel it under water? There´s a near cousin of the eadible pomegranate that it is the flowering kind. I don´t know if the fruit can be eaten. I wish I knew because I have 2 in my garden. THey are bushes instead of the eadible kind (trees).

Love my pomegranates...and love the juice! I have a Garlic Press, and I fill the holder for the garlic, with pomegranates seeds and pulp and just push down, the seeds stay in the holder and you get the lovely juice and pulp, all seperated! It is easy then to fill ice cube trays with the juice and freeze, then put the cubes in a plastic bag!
They are very expensive here...about $3.99 each! But it's something I splurge on!
Marguicha...remind me and I will PM you the recipe for dressing (salad)!

Pomegranate has lots of very bright red seed inside. The outer part, the red one, is very sweet. The white seed inside is very bitter. I would never use a blender as the bitter part would blend with the red sweet outer part. The only way I have eaten it is as I said, seed by seed and spiting the bitter white seed insede. I don´t know how they make the red juice (called "granadina" in my country).

Peeling the pomegranate underwater avoids the dirty red spots that can't get washed from the clothes. It sometimes pops some juice on my shirt. The water also make the seeds sink down to the bottom of the bowl and the white peel floats up.
The red seeds are not very sweet , they are sweet and also soure. the more they are red , the more they are soure.
To stowyk.
I don't put the pomegranate in the blender , lol , it will make a bitter juice from the peel. The whole point is to make the juice only from the red juicy stuff that covers each and every seed. all the rest is not tasty , even bitter. by the way , you have a nice cat up there , in the picture.
In my country we have a special bless that involves the pomegranate , we wish to do as many good acts as the number of the pomegranate seeds. This blessing is used to be said about the upcoming year.
(they say there are many seeds and not all of them are at their full size. that's true). This is one of the blessings of "rosh ha shana" (hebrew for "the beggining of the year").

The first time I heard word "pomegranate", honestly I don't know what kind of fruit is that. But when I am opening dictionary to find that word, now I know that it is the English name of that fruit!
Well, I ever eat pomegranate, but so rarely. I think I will consider to eat this more regularly since it is really great for health. And your recipes sounds great too.. Nice share!

There is also more information at pomegranateinformation.com
You can see information about it's health benefits.
I personally like the taste of the pomegranate : soure and sweet with a lot of juice.
By the way , most of the materials or in the seeds so it is better to chew them.
There is also a white kind of pomegranate. It's seeds are sweet and not soure and its juice is pink , not red.

First, let me Welcome you to MyLot! Pomegranates are one of my favourite fruits...but, of course, living in Canada, they are imported, and they start to arrive soon! I use the juice in a lot of my cooking, it makes wonderful "au jus" for pork and chicken, and I have a wonderful salad dressing that I make with it. When the season is over, I truly miss it, so this year, I am going to budget for lots, and freeze the juice, so I have it in the off-season! Cheers!

Thanks for welcoming me. I'm happy to be here , sharing my opinions.
At this very month , pomegratanes are available in my neighbourhood on the trees , I just pick them up and eat them in my house , make juices of their seeds.
At the market they are expansive , 1.5$ per killogram. it is like 6 israeli shekels per kilogram.

I don´t think that inseason pomegranates cost more than half a dollar each, maybe less. As for granadina, it might cost around $10 or less a bottle with one liter.
