After a very stressful day of working or just by taking care of your family, what are the things you like to do to relax and calm down yur active nerves? Do you immediately sleep? Do you drink tea? Do you Read? Do you Eat? Do you take a shower, relax on the bathtub? Listening to music? Well, as of the moment, that is what I am doing, I am listening to music. I feel like I've gone through hell and back for being busy since 8:30 in the morning and now I am about to end my day, I decided to listen to some Gospel Songs from HillSong. I feel relaxed and thankful to God for guiding me through the day. Hoping you guys are also enjoying and feeling great whether you are about to start or end your day. Remember, don't forget to take time to relax. We need that! GoD bless!

Hey there, my friend. What a great discussion. I'm actually still here at work wrapping up my day. I can't quite relax yet as I still have to deal with finishing up working and then all the rush hour traffic on the way home yet - lol. However, what I normally do to relax is first of all being home in general. My home has always been a place of rest and relaxation, so that's definitely something I look forward to each day! Believe it or not, the best method of relaxation for me is either doing housework after a busy day of work or cooking! That tends to relax me and relieve my stress quite a bit. Just being at home and in my own kitchen does wonders! My hubby and I also like to sit down to watch a movie together while we eat dinner and/or watch TV in the evenings to calm our minds and give us something to look forward to. We have a couple dogs, and they can get very rambunctious in the evenings because they've been in their crates all day, so that's just the opposite of what we're trying to do at the day's end lol. However, we allow them to play around with each other on the floor and entertain us for a bit. They sure are fun to watch. Seeing them play makes my heart smile. I sometimes listen to music, but I have to be in the right mood. I like to do so when I'm working in the kitchen. By the way, Hillsong is a great group! I also like Jeremy Camp, MercyMe, and Casting Crowns. Those are some of my favorites to listen to! You have some really great ideas for relaxation. Thanks for sharing with us and for posting such a wonderful discussion that reminds us all to take time to relax. We all need balance in our day to be productive! God bless you as well!!

Thanks so much for BR, MJ! That made my day. It was so great how I came upon this discussion because it was at the end of a very long day, and this was exactly what I needed. Your discussion here was a breath of fresh air for me, so thanks again for that! I'm at work now as I type...I'm taking a quick break as I very much need one, and what a great discussion to participate in again! I definitely need to step back and take a deep breath today. It has been a crazy one for me! By the way, I absolutely love the song 'Who Am I' by Casting Crowns. It's one of my favorites! I also enjoy 'I Can Only Imagine' by MercyMe. Those two songs in particular give me goosebumps. They're great! Another thing that helps me relax, like I said before, are my puppies. I'm going to try to upload pictures to this discussion so you can see what they look like as I don't have pictures of them on my profile yet. Hopefully it works so you can see them!

Caty - Caty is a Lab mix my husband and I adopted on November 1, 2010. She will be two years old on October 9, 2011. She is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet! She loves to give kisses and really enjoys attention. She's really great around kids too!
Ok, so I guess that didn't work the first time lol! Here I'm trying it again...

Hey there JJ. It's really nice reading your post and 'twas truly inspiring. Believe it or not, I am just smiling while my eyes keeps reading your response. I love the way you relax. I haven't thought about cooking as a way to relax, but some people does, and I think I've had several responder saying that cooking is indded a good way to calm down after a busy day. I easily get tired when cooking hahaha. I also love Casting Crowns, I really get emotional with their song Who am I. Well, your dogs are so cute (I still can say this even if I haven't seen them LOL) See, i really pictured out your activities just by reading it. You, your hubby and dogs take care. Enjoy life! Cheers!

First I take a hot coffee and take the rest for some minutes. Then I watched the news for fifteen minutes and sleep for a while.

My days are not too bad, but we all need to get ready for sleep. I like to do handwork projects and I also am involved in a Bible reading program right now. Both of those things are very relaxing. I also find that I do not seem to rest well if I have not had a shower in the evening. Being in front of the computer is not something that is good to prepare you to sleep.

but some people spend their time say 30 minutes or couple of hours in front of the computer. Sometimes I do it as well and have no problem sleeping. But of course, I agree that if we can just lay in bed, read the bible, pray, read a good book, listen to relaxing music will help us get a good sleep.

I end up sleeping and listening to music. I wish i had a bathtub so that I could just soak myself under the soapy water. I am always busy busy busy. My body and mind get tired easily but have no choice. I have to work and do a lot of stuff. We need rest. That is the most important thing of all. Don't you ever abuse yourself by working too much because you might get sick like me.lol take care always your body

hey Tess, you too, please don't get tired too much as you might get sick, or you are already used to it? I guess what I am doing right now is working hard Mondays to Fridays and then relax during the weekends. I am used to this so I guess my body already accepted my ritual. Music first before sleeping is good! Thanks for posting.

I agree, we need to get ourselves refresh for the energy so we can carry on through out the day. Also, getting enough sleep is a major way of relaxation.

Nice one here my friend. I am also the type who wants to do the same thing the next day when it comes to relaxing. Staying in my lot also gives us fun while relaxing. Most of the posts/topics here are kinda interesting we don't want to miss. Thanks for posting!

I am not a busy person. So it is hard for me to have a very busy day. If that happen, I think I have to stand to the work until it is done, so maybe I can not sleep on time. If it can be done late in the night, I will never left it to the next day. As I am not strong enough, I think after the busy job, I will spend more time on sleeping to recovery quickly.

So you won't stop working until you finish them all? Thank God you don't have much work to do and you're not a busy person... else, you'll get workaholic. Sleep is always good, but don't get too much of them because sometimes it makes us feel lazy and weak.

Hello! As a working mom, my work whole day. When my work make stress for the day, what will I do is that I will go window shopping in the mall, try to drink or eat for a snacks or having roaming around the mall just to relieve my stress before I will go home. But there are stress that is more than that it seems that we could not sleep. In this kind of stress, I will locked my room, i cry to God and talk to him heartily and seriously, by the time when i do that, my stress will relieve, then I can sleep. For me being stress is just a part of our life, in this we can remember God. Relaxation also is important to our body and mind because we are not robot tends to do without rest. We need to relax.

Window shopping is kinda interesting. I've heard some women, including myself (hehe) loves to go to the salon to get the pampering they need. Window shopping is not really my thing- it makes me depress because I tend to see things I want that I couldn't buy right there and then kidding aside, I also enjoy window shopping. I hope you get more positive stress that those stress that you makes it hard for you to feel asleep.

Well im pretty must busy during my work days and i work 8 hours a day 4 days a week and i usually just end up going home, cooking, watching tv and probably just laying down in bed and then my weekends are usually pretty busier then my week days are. I now this satruday will be a busy weekend for me watching three kids and taking care of them for about 8 hours of the day till there dad gets home from work as i wil be babysitting them and taking them to dance class and just hanging out with them. After that day goes by i will need to go to bed and just relax because that is going to be a day with no cleaning the house and no running errands for myself.

Just by reading your post, I couldn't imagine more how busy your days are... Watching three kids is really a tiring tasks. But of course, me as a mom, I have only one son, but it feels like he is equivalent to 2 kids because he is very active. Even if our kids makes us pre-occupied and tired, times spent with them are the most rewarding! Thanks for posting.

A very busy day? Like our thesis days? . I usually end up in bed -too tired to even think about what I'll do next. I tend to associate a very busy day with a frustrating day. So, in a busy day, my mind and are both too exhausted. If I'm just a bit tired, I'll turn the computer, read facebook posts (which I sometimes also avoid because some posts are also irritating and would just add up to the loneliness or exhaustion), or search for related discussions or interesting discussions here in Mylot and just pour my heart out until I feel sleepy.

There are times that we just really want to lay in bed and fell asleep and wake up refreshed to start another day. This moments happen when... Yeah, Thesis days! Hahaha Also, please try not to associate a busy day and a frustrating day as it can add up to the stress we already feel. Sometimes, a busy day is a positive day, because when you look back at what you've done through out the day, you'll see how many things you accomplished. A productive day, is a day well spent.

After a stressful day, I usually just leave the thoughts of that stressful day behind me already. I do this by distracting myself with other things to do like going online, playing games and listening to music. Also, a good book can eventually drown the stress away. But of course, nothing beats a nice and good sleep. It really refreshes me once I wake up especially if the day after is a weekend.

Nice! I like it when you said that a good book eventually drown the stress away- this is very good. Reading can keep a healthy imagination, takes us to places which really relaxes the mind and body. Thanks for responding!

Nice one varier. That's true, let us never forget to thank God for getting us through a very busy day. Also, let us thank him that He made sleep. That He created time for us to rest so we get refreshed. Like you, I always thank God too. Keep that faith, it's very nice.

I like your warm bath! It calms the body and soothes the skin. I think our skin always reflects how tired our body was. So we must not forget to do things to help our skin relax too. Like, yes, warm bath. Thank you for posting. God bless you too!
