Vision therapy is really working!

I have been in vision therapy since June 1 of this year for my Convergence Insufficiency, and the difference between now and when I started is like night and day!
I can read and write in print for longer periods now without getting such awful headaches, vertigo, double vision, blurred vision, etc.
I don't get tired as easily from just trying to use my eyes.
I can walk better without things suddenly going blurred or double on me and without getting vertigo.
I just have a few more sessions or so of vision therapy left. I am excited about being able to see normal again for the first time in many years!
So, those who are considering vision therapy for Convergence Insufficiency or some other vision condition that vision therapy might work for, or are considering getting vision therapy for your kids, go ahead and try it if there is any chance that it might work! It's quite expensive ($150 for each weekly session for me, plus the cost of special eye exams every 6 weeks, and at least for me anyway the vision therapy has gone on for months), but it's worth it just to be able to see straight!

Errr....what is vision therapy? Would it help me gain back a 20/20 vision? I don't like wearing my glasses or contact lenses anymore.

Vision therapy is a series of exercises to re-train the connection between the eyes and the brain, and they are prescribed by a licensed vision therapist.
My vision therapist is an optometrist with a post-doctorate degree in optometry.
Vision therapy works for vision issues that are really in the brain and not in the eyes themselves, such as Convergence Insufficiency, as well as lazy eye in children.
I also am far-sighted and have astigmatism, but vision therapy won't work for those because the problem with those is an issue of the eyes. Therefore, I will most likely be wearing glasses for the rest of my life.

Glasses never really worked for my Convergence Insufficiency (CI) because it is a brain issue. The CI just kept getting worse and worse, to the point that the prism lenses no longer helped. I was also once prescribed pencil push-ups but that didn't work either. The only thing that has helped my CI is vision therapy.

Oh..wow, thanks for the information. That's a good for you, though, because at least something can help you. I have vertigo sometimes (but it's ear related) and it is very uncomfortable. And it's not very often. I cannot imagine having them constantly. I hope all will be well with you. Well, at least I hope your CI gets treated.
