Do you find this behavior reasonable?

I was reading some articles in Triond. Some of these articles talk about the joy and happiness of making the first payout in Triond. Since Triond pays by Paypal after you have earned fifty cents, it is not really that hard to make money. Fifty cents is not a lot of money. Yet so many people are happy, in fact so happy that they produce payment proof, and they talk about their hard work and joy of earning online. One person left a comment about this peculiar behavior. He said something like, why should you feel happy about earning a dollar a month! He ended the comment by saying "that is beyond me". Do you think it is reasonable to feel happy over such a small sum of money?

Hi there. I feel every little counts. Money is money whether little or lots. Cause when you start earning from scratch, you get ideas on tapping different sources of income. And that's how people become millionaires. I know cents aren't enough...but if you have numerable or innumerable streams to generate income then that adds up to alot. Take a look at mylots itself...you are paid in cents for every move you make...but just glancing at your earnings at the top left corner makes you feel happy at the fact that "Yes! I have earned it!" Working and earning in cents is "at least" much much better than begging on the streets where people look down upon the begger and give charity as if they are doing oodles of favor on him. You have nothing to feel inferior about when you are working and reaping its reward.

Thank you. I learned alot from your reply. I want to make an effort to write articles for earning too. I only used to write them in school and college to earn grades. Only when push comes to shove...hehe.

Hi there! Thanks a lot, man! So you mean I can post the same article on all the three sites. That's something. I read alot about writing articles and earning but never started. You know, nervous of being rejected. If I need help sometime, I hope you can assist me. Thank you

YES! Every cent counts when you are trying to make a little extra income. I definitely got excited when I made my first dollar on various sites. Especially when they were for pageviews on things I wrote. On Triond, I have yet to make payout. In fact, it has only reached 31 cents in the past couple of years (yes, years!) This is why I keep giving up on Triond, the traffic is pitiful in comparison to what I am getting on other sites. BTW, I just reread the terms, and for US it says minimum is 50 dollars - not 50 cents. ugh!

My payment method is Paypal. Here is the exact paragraph in the Triond Terms: (iii) Payment of any Commissions due and payable with respect to any published Original Content shall be by made on the 30 th day of each month. In the event that the Commission you are entitled to receive for a certain month is less than $US50 (Fifty Dollars), Triond shall be entitled to carry over payment to the subsequent month(s), until the aggregate Commission to be paid shall reach such minimum amount. I think when I first signed up, minimum was $10, but that was a couple years ago. At first I did read and comment on other people's work and that is pretty much what earned me what I have now - 31 cents. It could be your location that allows you to receive the lower commission minimum. I am in the USA. Because I am making better money on other writing sites I could not keep up with commenting on Triond, especially since it wasn't making it worth my while.

Ah I see! Thank you! I am not sure if I am going to continue with Triond or not. It seems like a lot of work right now to get 1 or 2 views a week. With other sites I average 20-60 views a day. I am seriously considering publishing exclusively to that site and see how much more I can make that way.

This is mentioned in Triond Help Center "If payment is made through PayPal, the minimum payment is $0.50; if by check, the minimum payment is $50.00; if by Western Union, the minimum payment is $50.00. If, on any month, your revenues do not reach this minimum, the amount owed to you will be rolled over and added to next month's payment." So far, nobody complains about getting paid only after fifty dollars. Those who choose Western Union are aware of the $50 requirement, and most of them revert to paypal.

Maybe it's not the money so much as it's simply knowing that work that you have done is being recognized. It can be a thrill to have someone tell you that you've done a good job, so when enough people read your work that you actually get paid for it, that can be a thrill, too. Anyway, it can be a start to something bigger. Anything that encourages writers to continue and work harder is acceptable, in my opinion, even if it's only fifty cents.

Hi Peavey, actually that article and the comment is a great contrast. The writer is happy for making money enough for the first payout, the reader who makes the comment simply does not understand that the joy is not in the amount of money, but in the effort that pays off. I think people here would understand, since they are working hard to reach the minimum payout too. if the minimum payout changes to fifty cents, that would be better.

Although the way I earn online is by accepting happily every cent, I don´t thing that earning 50 cents would be a reason to make an article of it. The people that write that probably have many friends who will view their article. But I think the subject is of a poor quality. I would be happier to see the rising of the sun on a Spring morning or the smile of a child.

No fiction, short stories, poetry, literature in general? That is what I like to write about. And then, sometimes about life, but those aren´t things that many people are interested in.

I think the author just wants you to sign up for a triond account. I've also read a few articles about that. Triond is another option for you to earn money online but I find it hard to earn there. You have to first build up a foundation before you can earn big money there.

Hi Frontvisions, you have not written enough articles, that is for sure. Even I do not have enough content to stop writing completely. For the short term, focus on at least a thousand articles. After that, try to learn from one writer from Ezinearticles. He has more than 24,000 articles. It takes time for articles to earn. However, poetry and short stories do not make money. Focus on articles that teach people how to do this or that.

I guess that's about how far I can go when it comes to writing articles. I don't really like writing those. I prefer making money here rather than anywhere else online.

Well, Triond veterans say to me you have to write more articles until you're not earning. I've written 20+ articles there and none of them earned me a single cent.

Hi Ur4mae, actually when I started to earn money online, I jumped up and down when I saw an earning of just one cent. It is so funny! I think we are happy that our effort finally paid off. Never mind that we have spent many hours writing and writing, just to get that little cent. Yes, you are right in saying that those who can find happiness in smallest things are really the happiest people in the world.

Hi Ur4mae, we all can understand this because we are trying to make a few cents online every day. If you talk about it to your family who do not want to earn online, they would think you are crazy. they would tell not to waste your time or find something better to do. For some of them, they simply cannot believe that money can come from Internet, even if you show them the payment proof.

It would seem that they are happy with anything that they earn, and to find a site that really pays them. It may be that they want to convince someone that Triond is not a scam as well. I have known people that I have met at MyLot to whom their earnings are very important. Of course I know a discussion that was written like that, but here at MyLot, would be deleted.

Hi GardenGerty, actually most sites would delete discussion thread or articles that talk about earning directly. even those articles in Triond dare not show the full print screen. They would have to block out certain details. I think we are happy not in term of how much we earn, but that we are rewarded for our effort. Those who are not earning or trying to earn online would not understand it. Many of us cannot convince our family or friends to earn online too. They rather waste time on playing games or watching TV, activities that do not pay at all.

I think most of the site with these article are just trying to get you to used their referal link provided. In term of the article, the author obviously tried to exaggerated it to make it look attractive. I post something similar on mylot 4 years ago, and I started to regret my stupidity of doing such things. I think the comment you found on that article was trying to point this out. In term of your question, I wrote a few crappy game guide 4 years ago and quit triond around the same time. It was completely useless, yet generated me fifty cents per 2 months at minimum. I was actually quite happy with it considering its my "extra" incomes earned off the internet, plus I earn those moneys with my own effort. All the work I wrote 4 years ago might be crappy, but because it is something original I am proud of it. With my improved writting skill, and the joy of writting a game guide of my own way, I went back to using triond to make extra incomes again recently =).

Hi Earthzooka, I think you have come a long way. It is good to look back, and see how much you have improved. Actually from the standpoint of a gamer, the grammar and spelling issue is secondary. The most important thing is that the gamer can learn the trick to level up very fast, or get gold very fast. If you have met the requirement, the article might be crappy from the language stand point, but it is gold to the readers.

It's actually relative. I consider earning online as a bonus. Nobody gets paid for sending emails, nobody gets paid for casual facebooking, or friendstering, etc. But in some sites, it's a different story. You earn a cent, which grows into a dollar, which would grow into a few more dollars, and when actually converted to your own currency, it could be much bigger. A dollar is equivalent to 40 pesos here and with that you can actually buy a meal. Instead of being non productive as you stay idle infront, paid-to sites actually makes you a bit more productive. Yes, it doesn't guarantee a stable monthly income but it's fun as you earn. And besides, 50 cents is actually good, in paid-to standards.

well, i agree that every cent counts. but to be extra happy over a small thing where you know there are other opportunities that offer a tenfold seem not reasonable. we have to be realistic. i mean, why be content with a small earning when you can have more, with the same effort?
@scheng1 (24649)

Hi Bingskee, that is why most of us cannot simply quit our job and work online for a living. Online earning is enough to buy us a meal or two, but not enough to make up for the loss of full time income. Unless we have a few young kids or sick and aging parents at home, we would be much better off making money on full time job. However, having reach payout for any online activity brings more joy than the salary for working full time.

There's actually a few good reasons for writing an article about making even a little money on the site. The object is to get page views and the more you get, the more money you make. Writing an article about getting paid will attract readers, especially people just checking out the site. They will want to read about someone finding success and actually getting paid at the site, so that benefits the writer by getting traffic to his article. It will also possibly get him referrals if someone reads the article and then decides to sign up, so it will also benefit the writer that way. One might think that someone wouldn't be that happy about making a mere 50 cents or a dollar on a site like Triond but I would be happy because I know it would be a start. It proves I can do it and would tell me that the method works and I can increase my income by doing more of what made me the first dollar, which is writing articles. When you think about it, writing an article about being happy about getting paid is pretty smart.

Hi Millertime, the first payout is always the best. I think most of us can remember the joy of reaching ten dollars here, and getting the money in our paypal. I doubt those writers can get more referrals by writing about their payout, especially if the sum is very small. If the writer can make more than ten dollars, that is at least very encouraging. Fifty cents or a dollar is nothing to boast about!

Probably they're not happy about the fact of earning such a small sum of money, but happy about the fact that the website is paying them. In online earning, unfortunately there's an awful lot of scam websites, so being payed by at least one is something to be happy about, in my opinion. It's nice that, if they're happy about it, they want to share it with the world.

Hi Madteaparty, yes, I think the same way too. I think the writer is really happy to receive the first payout, but the reader, the one making the comment, does not have the intention to earn online. He is probably comparing the income to full time employment. Everyone knows that online earning, especially passive income, cannot be compared to full time employment. Even those teenagers working in fast food restaurants are making much more money per hour. However, having a full time job, and still making money during our free time is great. We are working for survival sake in full time employment, and having fun during our leisure time.

That depends on people, some people will be happy for a small success, just like what you said, 50 cents can bring so much joy to some people, while other people rather looking for bigger fish. 50 cents for them just not enough, probably over $20 is their goal. It is base on personal preference.

Hi Kingparker, for those people who never experienced online earning, they do not even see $20 as money. They are probably thinking of earning $3000 per month. That amount is income, not fifty cents per month. I think that is the reason why they are willing to pay thousand of dollars to earn about making money blogging, and other things. They are not willing to learn from scratch, and start making fifty cents per month.

Why not? I did feel happy when I got my first payout in triond which was just more or less a dollar. It feels good to reap what you sowed, no matter how small. People should be happy for the smallest things. Happy people tend to live longer you know. There's no reason why you shouldn't rejoice over small things. Actually, I don't just find the behavior reasonable, I find it correct. I wish everybody would be happy for just the smallest things. Being happy does wonders to the body and to the world around us

Hi Knicnax, yes, first payout is always very sweet. It is a great reward for our effort. My first payout from Triond was over three dollars, but that was nothing compared to the effort I have put in. I wrote nearly ten articles per day for the whole month. Even though I stopped writing at such a crazy rate, the articles are still earning for me. I think that particular comment comes from someone who does not earn online.

Hi Shepherdspy, I think the joy of earning one cent is far greater than the joy of picking up a dollar from the street. For one thing, earning requires effort. When we see our effort pay off, we are very happy. I think those who work hard in mylot will know this. They definitely value the experience of reaching the first payout of ten dollars.

Hi Hatley, yes, that is true. I doubt anyone would want to give up a full time job to earn just fifty cents per month or even ten dollars per month. While most of us value a dollar earned online, we have the sense to do it in our free time. Any earning in excess of full time employment is better than nothing at all. I think those people took more than all day to make fifty cents from Triond, especially when they are new to article writing, and seo techniques. They are more likely to spend more than an hour writing, and then several days reading, making friends, and commenting on other articles. The first fifty cents is always the hardest to earn.
