I know that all granny squares start with a circle. But does anyone have a pattern for a granny square type pattern that stays in a circle?

I am no where near an expert at crochet, in fact I gave it up, however, I've seen patterns and I don't see where it wouldn't be pretty much easy to convert a normal pattern to just one for a circle, You could add a border pretty easily by doing a few single stitches then double stitches. I can see it in my head, but not sure that I am using the right terminology.

I'm not really trying to be a smart aleck here but wouldn't converting it to a circle actually defeat the purpose of a granny SQUARE?

I used to have a booklet that was nothing but different ways of doing granny squares, and I remember there being a circle patterned one in there (so I knew it wasn't impossible lol) Here's a couple of links that might help you with it. One's an article in Suite101, and one is a YouTube (in case you'd rather see it done step-by-step.) http://renee-blixt.suite101.com/the-granny-circle-in-crochet-a40246 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se5wWKRiWBY The suite101 one has where you can print it out, and also has good photos of what it looks like with each round crocheted. Hope this helps!

There are alot of free crochet sites out on the net. One of my most favorite places is crochet pattern central. They have tons of patterns, and a great how to section. Also you could take one of your doily patterns and remake it with yarn.
