Clean and unclean meat,Do God's word draw a Distinction?
Many people have misconceptions about the biblical teaching on clean and unclean meats. What does the scripture really reveal on this subjects?
A lot of people don't eat pork, because they say it's unclean.
what dies the bible say about unclean meat?
Even though it is written in the bible, that pork is unclean do you eat it still?

i would say that some are unclean because they are unhealthy for us. but as a christian, like what Jesus Said in Matthew 15:11 "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
So i believe that Jesus already has given us the permission and even to the time of Noah, prior to Jesus when God flooded the world. He has allowed Noah's family to eat from the animals because there were no vegetables, and fruits alike.
So it is not what you eat that is unclean.. right?

Yes you are right. Jesus given his permission to eat hog meat because they are all Gods creation so all of them are good and nothing to be taken away.

I have found that most "do not" in the Bible are for the well-being of people: Most are aimed at protecting your health:
Pork and sea creatures without fins and scales are laden with unhealthy fat and full of toxins. While I have no scientific basis, it is possible that the hoof on an animal acts as some filter which helps an animal rids itself of harmful substances, just as are fins and scales to a fish.
I do not like pork, and hated the animal solely for its mannarism: At age 6, my grandfather gave me a piglet to raise as mine. I would scrub the swine 2 to 3 times a day and each time I placed it on the ground, it ran straight to the mud! A dirty animal, I concluded at age 6 and without Biblical reference in mind. And that, was how I came to resent pork.

Whatever you say, Casandrina. Fact is: Pork is laden with unhealthy fat. My little story simply told you how I first came to abhor swine. I do not like swine, and only time I have knowingly eaten anything with pork is via bacon and very, very crisp bacon.

Yes indeed, where pigs are not farmed intensively they are clean animals, they are also remarkably intelligent. Again kept naturally they are a lean meat not laden with fat, nor is their meat toxic.
Pigs however, due to a biology that in some ways are very similar to our own, carry the first stage of the Human tapeworm in their meat. Incorrect preparation of pig meat; insufficient cooking, etc can lead to transmission of the tapeworm to humans.
So, for a nomadic people it makes sense to prohibit eating pork but not where proper facilities exist.

I'm not a big meat eater.. but in Old Testament days, pork was rife with various dangerous germs, as were/are others.. but in the modern day, at least where I live, pork if treated with antibiotics which kill the dangerous germs.. It's also interesting to note that the New Testament does not require these dietary restrictions (Colossians 1:16 "don't let anyone judge you concerning what you eat" or in more modern words / another more modern translation "don't let anyone tell you what to eat or not eat..")

Early on the people believe that meats are unclean. But as God said that it does not matter what we consume but more instead on what comes out of our mouth.
Being literal though, we eat pork in the Philippines and I think that it just needs getting used to some things. As some do not eat due to religious beliefs or due to traditional ways.

I have never undestood this concept. I don't see why pork is unclean verses the other animals. Some cultures respect some animals to an extreme and other culture call some animals unlcean.
I think it is also difficult to know exactly what the Bible means because some of it is not to be taken literally. Having said that I respect other cultures beliefs even if I don't understand them.

@Stary, pork and shellfish are different because of their diet. These animals were put here on earth to clean it up, like the vulture, they eat trash and other animals excrement's. Some studies have also shown these meats are causes of some cancer and other ailments, like allergies.

Jesus lifts this prohibition;
15There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
18And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. KJV Mark 17
Peter, following a dream, raises this issue in Acts and James the Just, brother of Jesus, confirms the position that the prohibition is lifted

Pork was actually forbidden before the great flood in Noah's day but after that God actually gave the freedom to eat this along with other kinds of meat. It actually depends on your choice if you want to eat or not. As for me I still do not eat pork because it is unclean and will forever be unclean. It has worms which can't be seen by naked eyes. Try using microscope and see those tiny little worms on that dirty meat. So I never eat pork. I don't even want to see any pork dish for it makes me feel like throwing up.

I love pork and will be eating it regardless. I think now days there isn't a problem anyway. One belief is that the Israelites might catch disease from eating pork. I found a link to an interesting article on just this question. So here is the link:

I am going to guess on this. Many of the rules written in the Bible are there for the health and well being of the people. Pigs have long been the garbage eaters, their senstive skins caused them to cover themselves with mud as protection from the sun and insects. When kept in small pens pigs are especially ofensive and it is hard to kill them and keep everything clean. Thus they are known as unclean meat. Just a guess on my part. I am not Christion or Jewish so not real familiar
with the Bible.

Pig is regarded as an unclean animal in the old testestment is just a stated fact, you are adviced not to eat it thro' the word of God, that make sense in few century ago where medicine for treating diarrhea is unavailable, cooking method is antiquated, clean water system is hard to find and sanitation is not commonly practiced, so the believers of God are taught not to eat it to prevent diseases among the flock. But time had changed, medicine in today world is much advance and so with other factors mentioned above, so it is pretty much left for you individual to decide whehter you want to continue to follow the teaching of old testement or use you intelligence to decide for yourself what to eat or what not to eat. There is no distinction on it anymore.

Well, in the old testament of the bible. There is a commandment to the people of Israel not eat those animals. But in the time of Christianity God clean those animals and no restriction...any kind of animals will be allow to eat but pour the blood and don't eat...

Old Testiment law forbids the consumption of animals who scavenge, for the most part. Hence the unclean nature of pigs, crustation, and many birds and fish.
I notice that you're asking what the bible say about unclean meat. What's found in the Old Testiment is what the Jewish people base their lifestyle on. However, if you're asking about the Bible as a whole, that includes what the New Testiment says about unclean food. If you open up your bible to Acts 10 you'll find a passage referring to this topic exactly. Incuding a quote saying "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
With that in mind, I do eat pork because the bible says it s in fact clean.

Well, I have a different take on the matter! Ready? Here goes:
God never made such a distinction between different types of meat. These are man-made rules inserted into Holy Scriptures by a wicked, self-interested, profiteering, power-seeking, people-pleasing (to get more dues-paying members) priesthood! We can read for ourselves in the first chapter of Genesis the diet that the creator gave to us. Immediately, God calls this ideal & non-exploitative relationship "good" (Genesis 1:31). This is the one & only time in the entire Bible when God makes such a statement. Then follows many years of fallen humanity, when people held slaves, waged wars, ate animals & committed many other violent acts. Although there are passages in the scriptures that appear to endorse eating animals, war, slavery, polygamy, animal sacrifices & other practices most of us would find immoral, these passages are a representation of what existed as a part of fallen humanity, not of God's ideal plan or vision.
I won't go on & on with the whole argument. You can get the full bit right here:

Feel free to add your own thoughts on the matter.

On this topic, I agree with Urban when he wrote "for a nomadic people it makes sense to prohibit eating pork but not where proper facilities exist." I also agree with many others who have posted about all the unhealthy fat in pork. However, in the scriptures there are a few verses in both the Old and New Testaments that show eating pork is not any more unclean than eating other types of meats. The first one is after Noah and his family left the ark:
Genesis 9:3: Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you, even as the green herb have I given you all things.
And in the New Testament:
Romans 14:14: I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself, but to him that esteemeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
I Corinthians 10:25: Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat asking no questions for conscience sake.
And, I Timothy 4:4: For every creature of God is good and nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving.
In light of scientific evidence, my own thoughts are that pork is fine in moderation.

Hi!In the old testament God has declared some foods, meat to be unclean (Deut 14:4-20,Leviticus 11:1-23) But in the new Testament some unclean foods were already declared clean . The one thing that was declared unclean to eat in the new Testament is the eating of blood, strangled animals and those who were offered to idols (Acts 15:20,29/1 Corinthians 8:10/Mark 7:18-20). Please read this verses and think. As I have understood pork is clean to eat since Jesus declared it already clean.God bles.
