I don't believe in luck, I use the word and say lucky when good things happen for people, but it's really just hard work on their part. Other things like winning the lottery or finding money in the street, it's the perfect time to use the word luck. It's one of those words like karma, it's just used all the time

For the karma or good luck I've heard people say when it happens to them that it's happened because they deserved it etc, but when bad luck happens to them they refuse to accept that they deserved it. It's just stupid, sometimes I think they like the feeling of using such words, maybe they feel special or better about it, almost like it's a gift or a prize to be talked about. Just accepting something is too boring for them

every person is designed in his own life so if he gets something that others may not have. its part of his life. so it's never luck. although people uses the word luck to mean that the other person got what he wanted but it's never luck. and i agree as you say that one could be successful when one works hard to achieve it.

When some get something it doesn't mean that he is lucky but he deserve it and he has made the things lucky for him. On the other hand when someone doesn't get something that he want. It doesn't mean that he is unlucky but he don't deserve it because he didn't make some efforts to get it. Then why people use the word 'luck'? Just to hide their failure.

I guess I believe in luck, but I lean more towards fate and chance. Being in the right place at the right time. And some of the bad things that happen are from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some times it is from poor choices that are made. I have seen and experienced people work very hard to get ahead or a position and no matter how much effort was put into it. The person still doesn't get the desired outcome. Now the efforts should still be put forth because there are always more things that can be accomplished.

Hi! Ladygator
Bieng in the right place at the right time is just coincidence and your efforts to be there. The people who works hard to go ahead but doesn't get it, may be they are not trying in right direction or their compitator work hard more than them. Luck is nothing everything is coincidence and your efforts to make things right.

I believe in luck, but only to a certain degree. There really are certain things beyond our own control that give some people a certain "edge" over others. For instance, nobody ever chooses to be born, let alone be born where they are, when they are, and to the people and circumstances under which they were born. Many diseases and other illnesses are contracted through no fault of one's own either - and sometimes inexplicably. There are always certain accidents that happen that nobody could have foreseen and if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when they occur, you're pretty much doomed.
I have also had numerous other experiences that leads me to wonder if the "laws of attraction" you hear about regarding your experiences with society really are true. I am a dancer, and I cannot tell you how many times I have been passed over for someone far less talented than myself even when I work just as hard or harder and have more experiences in the type of role in question (I am not saying I am the most talented or qualified every time, but I can tell when someone is obviously not as qualified as I am). If I confronted the directors about this, they never would never give me a straight answer. They may have told me it is because of a few technical flaws but the dancer I get passed over for always made the exact same mistakes *more often* and was not much of a stage personality either (which I have always been). Similarly, if you look at all of showbusiness you will see instances of people with zero talent getting all the breaks while those who actually have something worth seeing can't seem to get noticed by anyone and when they do, it is always just "fluff." As Jean Cocteau once put it: "I believe in luck: how else can you explain the success of those you dislike?"
I am not, however, one of those people who believes luck accounts for EVERYTHING. I think for the most part we do control our own destiny as far as the bigger picture is concerned. Obviously if you make poor choices things aren't going to go terribly well for you, and if you make the best of the way things turn out, then things usually turn out for the best. There are always, however, little factors here and there that none of us chose, that might make things easier or harder for us, so luck does play a role in our life. It may be a comparatively small role compared to other factors, but it does account for a certain amount of where we end up.

Luck really is something that offends me, that people rather believe in the concept. There are a lot of people who call themselves lucky, but really they are just being modest. Really there is really nothing wrong with being modest but there are just many people who sell themselves rather short. There are a lot of times where people do good and they just want to portray it to luck.
I think that what many see is luck is just a surprising amount of resourcefulness. Really when you think about it, there are many times where people tend to do things that might surprise even then. Therefore they attribute it to luck. However, I don't really agree that it should be attributed to luck. It should be attributed to a surprising amount of resourcefulness. So no, I don't believe in any luck. It is just a way to explain the abilities that cannot be explained.

Luck is for situations like win on lottery. For other situation I think that it is more merit of the person than luck.
I am Brazilian and like Ayrton Senna, the great racer, said: "Luck is the combination of hard work, competence and talent".

I believe in luck, its not always hard work only pay for us, we should have little bit of luck also, in my point of view, luck is not something great things happening without any efforts, it get aligned with efforts we put in. if we have both, then the success is not very difficult, in the absense of either one of them, we may not get the results as expected..
