Do you put a leash on your pet?

Sometimes I feel that the pets, mostly dogs and cats, don't want to be put on a leash because it makes them feel like a prisoner or that they don't have control. I know they are just animals but sometimes I feel that they are something more. Like my dog, he is a guard dog but I love cuddling him and since there are a lot of people that always come at home, we would need to put a collar and a leash on him because he is not good with new people. i sometimes pity my dog so what I do if no one is at home, I would remove him from his leash and let him play around the house.
I hope that all pets are easy to teach new tricks to so at least there won't be any need to put a leash on them.

Dogs and cats and other pets just like human would always prefer to be free. Who does not want freedom after all. But there are some pets that not really worth being given total freedom because they sometimes go out of control just like what you experienced with your dog. This is the same thing with the cat of my friend. He always sneak out and do naughty things in the neighborhood so he has to be caged.

Only for short periods. I leash her when I take her for a bath or when we have guests who are not used to having pets around them.
