Not particularly, as long as I am reasonably sure that the beasts were treated without cruelty, which they are in Australia. If I were born to one of the maritime nations like Japan or Greenland and my education had developed as it has here, I would be very unhappy with eating whale of dolphin meat, since the evidence of their intelligence and awareness, whilst not absolute, is fairly strong.

I don't know anything negative about the care of farm animals here, but nothing would surprise me where money is concerned. As for the chickens, we get our eggs from our own free range hens, and buy only free range cooking chickens.

We are by nature hunters and carnivores, so right and wrong don't come into it. And the evidence is very strong that the cave man honoured his prey and dealt with it as efficiently as possible. Pain no doubt occurred, but not, I would think, cruelty.

I see what you are saying. I too do not like cruelty to animals but I think back to when men used spears and stones to hunt animals and painfully slaughtered them for food. Do you think it was a bad thing back then for the cave men? or was it acceptable? Should it be acceptable now?

That is true. I guess every organism is like that in a way. I doubt Lions feel sorry for the Deer while they are tearing it apart but they do not enjoy being torn apart themselves. We humans do not enjoy being killed but yet we kill other animals to serve as our food.

Hi Joseph!
I have thought of how chickens, pigs, fishes, and cows are killed just for people to have food on their table. If you see how they are killed, you will really pity them. I've seen how a chicken's throat is slit and I've heard the wails of a pig when being slaughtered and it's really pitiful.
But when they are finally cooked and placed in the dinner table, I don't feel sorry for them because that is their purpose in life. They are destined to be served as food and be eaten.

I have never had this feeling towards my food at all and i eat all meat and alot of dairy products as well and never felt that a animal had to be killed for me to eat my food. Now if someone killed a dog or cat for me to eat then i would be upset and not liking that at all because those are house pets and indoor pets. I like chicken and then of course thanksgiving will be coming soon and then turkeys will be killed for us to enjoy a turket thanksgiving dinner with family and friends and i just never think about the killing of animals and never bring it up because it is sad but i dont feel sorry for them at all and i guess its life and thats how we live our life.

No, I didn't have this feeling of being sorry for the chicken. Their are raised to be eaten, so this is their purpose. And the taste of chicken is wonderful, so I really don't care for them. Of course, there are people who do so, but I am not one of them.

I don't eat much meat. I ate chicken and fish since this is what they call over here "white meat" and it's better for your health and skin(problems).
Now I don't eat chicken anymore since it's the kind of meat with the highest rate (nearly 100%) ESBL on it. ESBL is dangerous. It's the reason why many antibiotics don't work anymore even if you never had one before (same with milk).
If I eat meat/chicken/fish I don't feel sorry for the animal esp. not if it had a good life.
But as said: I can live without it and I don't need it and seldom buy it. If I would have place and time enough I would keep my own animals and would eat them too. No problem with that. It's good to know the chicken or other meat you buy in the shop was an animal once. I know that and my kids know it. Many kids don't even recognize of do know that anymore. I think that is a bad thing.

No dear, not at all! When I sit on the table to eat and see a whole plate of fried chicken crunchy and juicy I don't think I should ever feel sorry. Chicken are created to serve as food for humans so there is no reason to feel sorry because they are just serving their very purpose in this world. But, if its an unclean meat that is served on the table then that is the time I'd be sorry and would not even eat. But as long as pieces of fried chicken are served to me crunchy and juicy then I'd eat as much as I can without feeling sorry at all.

Sometimes I do but then I try not to think about it. I do not eat a lot of meat though.

I do not feel sorry for the chicken, but I am thankful to God that he created the chicken.

Poor chicken, but I really do not feel sorry. Not at all. Chickens were treated that way and I think that is they're purpose: to satisfy our stomachs. At first, chickens were treated as princes and princesses but at the end, they were just fried and cooked. :(
