When I heard the news about a call center agent who died because she was on her phone while crossing the street I didnt feel any pity at all.I know I might sound so heartless but then again its commonsense not to be on the phone while crossing the street. I guess, people should also be careful and just wait until they are on the other side of the street away from harm when they decided to take a call. I mean, I do not think that is very impossible to do. No matter how important the call maybe, that could wait.. Your life is still more important than any call. I think pedestrians should not expect the motorists to avoid them and always give way to them. With this.. I do not feel any pity for them. What about you??

I think it's a lesson for everyone, not just for call center agents.I saw a lot of people with their earphones while walking, and crossing on busy roads.I think we really need to be aware of our surrounding all the time especially now that crimes are rampant. It's just awful that the driver does not even stop and try to help the victim.He\she should have a little coscience at least.

I agree! I have seen youngsters today that has their ipods earphones stuck on their ears too! I mean, they are not even supposed to listen to a music while crossing the street. For me, I blame the person. Its not really the driver's fault. How can the pedestrian hear the horn of the driver if an earphone are stuck to their ears? for all we know the driver has been blowing his horn already but then the person's volume is so way up that they wont hear it?It is the responsibility of the pedestrian to take care of themselves.Sometimes, these creatures are even the ones who are mad when cars are blowing their horns on them. Like DUH!

I feel sad more than pity. The reason being they could not set aside a few minutes without talking on the mobile. These days streets are so crowded they deserve our undivided attention. One is literally playing with one's life.Pedestrians should always be careful as all motorists aren't like, some are rash others safe drivers. We can never say what the situation is likely to be.We should cross at pedestrian crossing where there is a green signal for pedestrians.

Actually, I have mixed emotions about these kind of people.I don't know if iam going to say I'm sad,or if I feel like they deserve it as its also their choice that they chose to do what they did.Or if I find them..stupid.I mean, one can totally avoid these kind of accidents if you really value your life.I do not have the patience to wait on a pedestrian who is crossing the street while he or she is on their phones texting or calling.Iam a driver, but when I know that its my time to go.. I don't have the patience to wait on someone to cross. I hate these kind of pedestrians actually. I will be more willing to make a pedestrian cross if I can feel the person really waits for their turn to cross than those who are hasty to cross and still be on their phones.

I agree. For all we know that talking or even simply texting while in that situation is really not proper. First, I consider the thought of maybe it is an urgent call and inevitable not to respond, but she could stop and stay in a place where she could be safe and answer the call or let say reply to a message. Another thing is that most young people are used to do things even that of crossing the street or driving a vehicle having gadgets to listen to music using the headphones or earphones...whewww. I could not think why those people could not realize that simple things that would value their lives. What I feel pity for is the family, for sure most of them have families who depends on their support and with that simple negligence, a great effect will happen. Just hoping those accidents would be an eye opener for people who does same thing. Happy mylotting.

Wow how sad. I wait for the walk sign even while talking on the phone she must have not been paying attention and didn't cross on her light this is just as bad as talking on cellphone while driving
