It is necessary to be qualified in minimum education for voting through the voters or the candidates. Minimum qualification means class 10 pass or primary education. A candidate should also have a qualification for election. Especially, if we discuss about India literacy which includes Urban and rural people.

in my knowledge about it they don't look to the educational background of the candidates and even those who will votes, voters as long as know how to read and write they can vote and those who candidates for the position as long as they understand the politics is they can be a candidates.

I don't think educational qualification should be a prerequisite for electors or contestants in a country from which we both belong . Are you aware of the literacy rate ? Do you think it would be in conformity with democracy . Our constitution upholds equality . So don't you think it will be discrimination and many would be deprived of their right to choose their leaders . Similarly able leaders not fulfiling the criteria will be denied to lead and represent the people . India will then be turned into an authoritarian state .

Where i live voters have to be an adult of the age of 18 and go get a registration voting card to be able to vote of course. I think it is important to do this and i did as i liked to know what was going on with my country and wanted the best for it of course so i believe someone that is going to vote needs to either read up on who the candidated are or watch on TV the candidates too and that usually helps out too. If they dont have time to do this and just hearing things from others isnt always good either but they need to do there own reading as well as others too if someone is going to vote.

Do you need to have a minimum education to vote or is it your proposition ? I don't think it is a good idea in a democracy where everyone is supposed to be equal. On the 19th century, we had in my country -- France -- several political systems based on a census suffrage : people were allowed to vote if they were paying more than X taxes ; in some of these systems were also qualified people with a university degree. So an idiot with money was voting, but you should have an university degree to vote if you had no money : it was inequitable and asking for a qualification for voting would be also inequitable.
I believe that people are voting for somebody they think competent. In my opinion the question of an education has not to arise for a candidate.
