Did You Know That Sixty% of Americans Believe In the Book of Revelations?

They also believe that it will come true during their lifetime. Actually folks have believed that it will come true in their lifetime for many generations. However, today's folks seem to "see" all of the signs coming together. Preachers all over are predicting that even some of the "Seals" have already been broken and that "It" has already begun. Now, here is my thought. Since we are SO technologically advanced today, and since our communication skills are in the nanosecond range, is it plausible that we will "Cause" Armageddon, or that we ARE causing it? If So many folks think that it is inevitable and actually necessary for their messiah to return, don't you think that many would want it to happen in their lifetime so that they could see him come "back"?

They not only beleave that Armageddon will occur within their lifetime but they are trying to hasten it. You need look no further than the fanatical Christians who are active in Israel. They are trying to rebuild the Tempel and convert the Jewish residents of Israel so that prophecy will be fulfilled. It seems to me that it takes a rather sick mind to be trying to bring on the end of the world.

Most who are wishing this on, do not think of it as ending the world. They think that the world will be a better place after armageddon. Their messiah will come and make everything lovely and those that are still here and accept him as their saviour will live a wonderful life. That is the insane part.

A nephew of mine, who's just 8 years old somehow had his hand on a movie about Revelations. He watched it and now he's having nightmares about it. I have no doubt that 'we' will cause Armageddon. Something about being human, and the desire for more power. But, I'm not sure that I want it to happen in my lifetime though. I'm still naive enough to just want peace all the time.

Wanting peace is not naive. It is the sign of a good and gentle nature. Bless you.

By the way, the Jewish people to not have the book of Revelations and do not follow the christian belief of Armageddon. But we do have the book of Daniel. The Rabbis do suggest that we not begin the study of Daniel until we are 50 years old. By that time we are well enough versed in Torah and Talmud to understand that Daniel is not Armageddon.

This is very interesting to know! I am not Jewish, so it's interesting to learn little differences like these. But I imagine that wanting peace goes across all faiths. Thanks for the BR!

Because I believe the Book of Revelation/Apocalypse is the collapse of all things false and the collapse of man's empire(s) I figure no matter what we may or may not want it will happen when it happens.. although I do support the political party I feel will lead to collapse more slowly! I, personally don't want to see that day, and I really wish it would not occur in my children or grand children's days.. well, that may be hoping a bit much! I don't think of it so much as judgment but as consequences and results, but, on the other hand, I truly believe terminating pre-born babes is a sure fire way to raise God's ire.. All in all, it's bound to happen sooner or later, but I don't think anyone should be hoping for sooner as it will not be pretty..

I agree that no one should be wishing for an end to a beautiful world...I personally like this world and think that if we took better care of it, it would be wonderful for a very long time.

i think that it has already begun sadly. I think our advance in technology has helped the end come. I am not ready because of how bad the book of revelations sounds. However i am excited to see when it happens and finally when it happens no one will have to worry about the end any more so that is a plus

So, you are definitely part of the 60%. I do not worry about revelations as I believe John just took the Book of Daniel and reworked it to his satisfaction. The Book of Daniel was not a prediction of the end of the world... However, the folks of today want their messiah to come back so they WILL create an Armageddon of christian biblical proportions and end the world as we know it. Too bad, when it is not necessary.

That depends on the definition of language...What of the language of the computer? All computers can speak to each other no matter the language...

I am in the 60 when it comes to believing the book of revelation but not that it will necessarily come in my lifetime. Time is meaningless in God's view so an instant to Him could be 100,000 years to us. Whether I see the prophesy fulfilled from a human vantage point or not, I know I will see it, either as one looking up, or as one who has passed before, looking down. The interesting thing is that it is hard to know if man is trying to hasten the coming of the end times, or if God is doing this through man. I am glad though that I know I am one of His so that before it gets really bad I will be taken up.
