That is not an equation, it's an expression. Anyway: 6/2(1+2)= Brackets go first. 6/2x3= As multiplications and divisions have the same preference. We start doing them from left to right: 3x3= 9

You are welcome! And about the results, my teachers taught me to do it from left to right, when two elements have the same preference, but some people here say you have to do the ones in the middle first. I really don't know if it changes from country to country or what. Or maybe times have changed. I left primary school long ago.

i'd say the answer is 1. i hope you are familiar with the mdas rule.. unless they are grouped into parentheses, brackets and/or braces, Multiplication comes first, then Division, Addition, and Subtraction comes last.

i just wish you'd understand my comment deeper. the MDAS is a serious rule. if you still can't see it, MDAS means Multiplication-Division-Addition-Subtraction. as i mentioned, unless they are grouped into parentheses, braces and/or brackets, we would follow this rule. meaning, for example you see a parenthesis in a given equation, solve the equation inside that first. if there are 2 or more terms, then apply the MDAS rule. once you have a single integer in those groups, then solve the equation, applying still the MDAS rule. i'm not a math wiz, but this one i learned in grade school. and this rule continues even now.

"Timeout" is correct. The answer is 9 because the problem in brackets and the problem outside the brackets must be completed separately before multiplying each separate answer. 6/2=3 and 1+2=3. Then 3x3=9. If there were no brackets (i.e. 6/2x1+2) then the answer would still not be one, it would be 5 because 6/2=3, 3x1=3 and 3+2=5. To get the answer to be 1, the equation would be 6/(2x3).

The answer is 1. We should compute the insides first before we proceed with the MDAS rule.

Thanks! as of now most people are inclined to "1".

what?!, now i;m really confused . . . .

the answer is 1 because 1st you need to solve the equation or number inside the parenthesis so its 3 and then u will multiply it to number 2 and the answer is 2x3 = 6 and then 6 ÷ 6 is equals to 1 thats all I can share ^^
