Do you have your health card membership? Or a sort of health insurance. We have here in our country different health clinics/facilities offering health cards. This is as if an insurance whereby you pay a certain amount of money on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis for a year and then you will be using that insurance in the event that you got sick, hospitalized or your every health check up that you nee. Ive been a member for quite sometime and make use of it but it seems the price is going up. It is understable as the price of medicine, doctors, hospital fees are also increasing. This year I transferred to another health card provider as my last year provider increases their cost. Are you familiar with this arrangement or are you a member also.

Hi bagumbayan! I have a Philhealth card but my mother is the one who insisted for me to have one. She pays it for me but sometimes she gets money from me to pay for my card. But that's rare. I guess she thinks I don't have the extra money for it. I have not been able to use it though. Thank God. I haven't been hospitalized for so long. My sister and her two children has Philhealth card for each of them and they are the ones who use it once in a while. Especially her kids.

Thanks for the response. It is not the usual medicard I am talking about. It is a sort of a health card issued by some companies handling the same. Its premium is higher than your private or government medicard.

Hello Bagumbayan. Yes, i am familiar with this. The premiums, however, are being paid by my employer. Upon renewal, a study is made to review the utilization rate of the members. If utilization is poor, expect to have markup in the card cost.

Thanks for the response. Its good your premiums are being paid for by your employer, I am paying for the premiums. I am working in a government entity thats why it was not included in the payment. Most private offices here also pay the premiums of their employees, but not in the case of some government entities.

In my country there`s a mandatory health insusrance. You have to pay 7% of your wages for it and you are covered. There are extra insurances if you want better coverage and if you can afford it, it`s important as you will have immediate care in some hospitals.
