Is it legal to drive down the road in reverse, as long as your following the direction of traffic?

In world war two, the British equivalent to the Jeep was the Austin Champ. That had a five speed gearbox (well ahead of it's time) and a forward/reverse lever.
I drove one of these once, and I can confirm that it is possible to do seventy miles an hour BACKWARDS !!!

WOW! That is really cool! 70 mph in reverse! I bet you have a lot of really cool stories from that time in your life. I am going to look up the Austin Champ cause I have never heard of it... do you know anything about carboats??? My husband just told me about them but I have never seen one of those either...

Maybe reckless driving, perhaps? I don't know, it seems like it SHOULD be something you can do given you can control your vehicle, but something tells me this is dangerous and thus illegal. Haha, don't forget about the minimum speed limit!

Yes it is illegal here and one would be ticketed here. Driving in reverse would cause any vehicles behind them to crash is what comes to my mind. Plus one really cannot steer properly when going the distance in reverse.
