Today, it was broadcast on TV that there is a National Transport Strike. I was anxious as I go outside to get a jeepney ride to the office and was early just in case I have to really look for other means. But I was so happy, when I saw many jeepneys passing by. I was able to ride and was early at work. What about you guys, are you affected?

Oh!National Transport Strike. How long will they go on?I think they surely strike for higher pay or against petrol prices being going up.

yes, the transport strike is for the whole day today. It's to clamor for higher fare hike or complain about the fuel's prices that keeps on increasing. But they shouldn't have involved the riding public.

I believe not that many jeepneys participated in the strike. I've seen a number of jeepneys on the road and I don't see stranded commuters. I myself weren't affected because I'm using my car to go to work. I guess the need for money is more appealing than to participate these strikes that will obviously go nowhere for most jeepney drivers.

That's true. I saw that on TV. Yet the strikers are insisting , they did affect a lot of people. Good for you because you have a car. But , didn't the price increase of fuel affect you?

I can gladly say that the Transport Strike did not affect me at all! And why? Because my office is just a short walking distance from my house! I wonder if the protesting drivers and operators were able to stress their point with the strike?

Actually, they were insisting that they greatly affected the riding public. But , i guess they didn't. Good for you, that your office is just near your house. At least, you have no expense on fares.

I think Makati don't get involved in this kind of non sense. Or if some would, there are a lot of strikers often called buwaya who are more than willing to ply the streets when a jeepney association gets involved in a transport strike. So nothing's out of the ordinary since the jeepners plying Makati routes are not members of Piston anyway. Besides, I don't think those who would want to participate in the strike would have the blessing of the Binays.

The strike is a failure. Based on the number of jeepneys on the streets, I can say that there's no strike at all. The traffic is still the same. I guess, those who are in the provinces are the ones who got more affected. I hate strikes myself. If those people have a problem with government policies, they should not let the people suffer.

It's nice to know that Makati do not participate in those strikes. But what is disconcerting though, are the buses and jeeps that brings you to Makati and back to your home. I hate these strikes actually.

Dina I am aware of this strike in your country, well here too such strikes are so common, we are getting accoustumed to them gradually, most of these are initiated by the opposition party in the govenment, kind of vote gimmic.. Best of luck. Professor

Well professor, strikes can be good in a way, because it's an avenue to air our grievances. But when it hampers the way of those employed people, then it becomes a nuisance. Thank God, the National strike wasn't participated on by the drivers here in our province.

its sad this has to happen here, i can already see the number of people all stranded later when its about time to go home. Sometimes its just not fair that they let the public feel more of the burden. its an added thing you know, we all feel the issue, the problem of the increased gas prices, and its not only the transport that should be on strike! we people should all start the revolution. haha oh well im just glad that i am not much affected by this, i live about 30 minutes from home, and i can walk from work to home, i actually do that most of the time.

It's sad that it's their strategy as earlier mentioned by a respondent ,is to let the public be able to ride jeeps to their offices, then when comes dismissal , will not have a jeep to ride . Though, here in our place usually from 6pm onwards, jeepneys would already be plying their routes, because their reason is that they should have some money to give to the family's need for the day. That's true, they could make their protests , but they should not include the riding public. Good that you can just walk home. That's the best exercise we have actually.

Actually, the strike was a failure. No matter how hard the strikers would say it did paralyze some places. I guess, most of the drivers have their daily earnings on their mind, that's why some did not join . In our place too, there was no strike at all.

That is their plan. They take you to your destination in the morning then by 11:00 am they go onstrike. Their intention to strand as many people as they can. friggin' drivers, all they want increase, increase, increase miminum fare. but they don't even return change.

So, that's their plan. No wonder , there are lots of jeepneys still plying their usual routes. I just really hope , that in the afternoon when dismissal comes, they will be plentiful again. That's what usually happens here in our place. By 5 or 6pm, jeepneys will already be plying their routes.

Just like you, the jeepneys here in our place seem not to have participated in the National strike. That i am happy. They can very well go to the streets without hampering the transportation. Why can't they do that?
